Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

New layoff rumors

A lot of chatter about layoffs to be expected in SE, 1A and 1B, operations and administrative this month. Not sure any truth in it, but best of luck, everyone.

We are hiring in MIssoula call center, but I think we are being snowed by the union and the site. These are likely jobs that will be laid off either end of year or Q1 as more and more overseas agents come online from onboarding. Plus, the site has only 3 trainers and only one of them was actually an original one. The other two were promoted coaches. They traveled a lot up until recently, I think. We are supposedly getting 100 new agents and another 100 billing agents will have to cross train to technical. Lots of false security going around, IMO.

JiKJ5mq-tzm....not in Colorado....people leaving everyday and they have not hired since 2015 and they are not going to. Colorado inverness building is a ghost town now. All of management is going overseas to the Philippines,Costa Rica,Prague to train your replacements. Stick it out for a severance package though

Why not, reducing the amount of managers that are promoted simply because they have been with AT&T for 20-30 years, they bring very little innovation and tend to “run off” anyone who makes them feel inferior.

I don't' understand why they have to make an offer to management, I thought they could just cut them and that was it, they take these jobs knowing there is no security in them, there are many managers in Birmingham that do absolutely nothing, they know they do nothing, just taking company money, mostly in wholesale. They come and go as they please, work from home.

I wish those of you who have no idea what you're talking about would stop posting as if you do. Cuts are coming. Will it be Monday? I don't know, but I do know it's not across "all segments." I also know there is no such thing as a "3+3+1". Also, 90% is a gross exaggeration for jobs in Atlanta and Dallas. Dallas is the company headquarters, obviously there will be many jobs there. Atlanta is the major wireless hub. But there are several other hubs that between the 5 or 6 of them combined won't make up 90% of the jobs.

How about central Florida? They are still hiring and we have managers that were surpluses to us. So it is not only Atlanta Nd Texas that are growing.

Soon we will go through another surplus, but the only People that are promoted to "Director" levels and higher are those who have no business managing people, if you refuse relocation at your own expense, you're out the door. Promotional opportunities are almost nil. This company is about to lay off thousands of people 10%, The "management team" in Dallas clearly doesn't give a damn about the employees anymore - it's that simple. Find a better place to work - where you'll be treated better. Employees here are treated poorly in the past few years, usually in the name of some form of cost cutting. Also, over the past 2 years, 90% of all jobs are either in Atlanta or Dallas. If you don't live in, or are willing to move to, one of those cities, your career at AT&T is likely toast. Senior management seems to have no clue that employee morale across the company is so lousy,

I've heard something monday as well. Possible EPO but no details. Rumors have been 3+3+1. They would need something substantial to get rid of 10%. The last couple of offers were not a great incentive unless you were leaving anyway

Possible national announcement as early as this Monday 9/12. Impacting Sales, Service and Operational organizations. The shift to pure wireless is full motion. Fingers crossed an Enhanced Pension Offer similar to Feb. 2015 or some combination of adding age, seniority with dollar amount may be offered. Intent to reduce headcount by 10% by fiscal year end.

@tzm: Can you clarify what you mean? You said SE are prime targets but mention people moving from other states to the SE region.

The South East folks are the prime targets here, slowly been replaced by others, heard of many relocating to FL and GA from NJ, CA, Mi, and CO to keep their jobs
