Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Big date: July 18, 2016

I have heard there are a number of people getting their notice on the 18th including me. Have not seen anything in WARN or in the news. Tomorrow will tell. Very sad.

I worked 7/18, then asked to come into manager's office at 4P and told to clean out my desk and leave even tho my last day would be 7/29. My job was posted 7/29 so maybe they are missing me! I too had a mid yr review recently and was told my numbers were "through the roof" and I should consider advancing in the company. I miss (most) of my coworkers and have concerns for their futures due to issues with local and overall management of HPE. I am job hunting...and waiting for that 60d pay check...

The 7/11 layoffs were no fiasco..I also got layed off that Monday morning. Whoever keeps saying that needs to understand there were layoffs and I had heard it was over 100 in just my division. There were other depts. impacted that day as well. At least I got the two week notice.

Got a message on a Friday from manager that he needed to move the next weeks one on one call from Thursday to Monday morning. I had a pretty good idea what that was about. Same as some of the others above, I just had the mid year review a couple of weeks before and everything was great.

Shedding billable expertise to make numbers is a race to the bottom. Surprised Meh-g hasn't sold the whole ship to TATA given her obvious lack of skill at holding the company together. When industry expertise and strategic management is your company's least-valued asset, in no time at all you're just a big Kelly Girl factory. To those who suffered on the 18th, hang on and find something better. Better-Than-HPmEg is not difficult.

yep mine was a last minute meeting as well. The invite came on a Friday or a Sunday, I can't remember. I hardly ever talked to my manager as he was based in the U.K. and (he didnt do much managing at all), but didnt think anything was up since I hadn't heard anyone on our account, much less my team, being impacted. Then Boom!

My husband got an IM from his boss asking him to call her at 8:30 this morning. He knew exactly why. WFR over the phone. He was told at his mid year review two weeks ago that he was excellent and being prepped for management. Nice.

So it was for real then? The 7/11 thing was a fiasco, but 7/18 was for real?

the woman that hired me at HP (now HPE) told me that if my manager ever schedules a Monday AM meeting, then you are in trouble. 2 weeks ago, my boss moved our regular bi-weekly meeting to Monday AM. Today I got laid off.

@qtf - I know the feeling... Mine was in Jan, 2015, and I got a meeting invite (same day) on a Friday at 3:00 PM with the subject "Quick check up meeting". The least thing that passed through my mind was that I was going to be laid off. I better try not to remember that day, because my blood pressure will go to the roof in no time. My notice was handled very, very poorly... I am extremely happy to be out of what remains of this Company.

Got the WFR today also, after last month mid term review was told I was doing a good job. Got a call out of the blue from my manager, thought he needed help with something and then he told me the good news. Makes you wonder.... Still in shock so not much else to say. Take care all.

They are occurring in ES AMS region primarily. I got my notice today, and personally know of several others. There are reductions of up to 50% on some teams. As far as the WARN law, they provide the 60 day transition pay in lieu of the WARN notice.

Got impacted today. ES US Public Sector. Sixty days pay in lieu of notice. The best part is that I was already searching and have a ton of interviews lined up for even more money than HPE was paying me.

Thanks for throwing me into the briar patch, Meg...with a lovely bonus and free training and certs. :)

My only regret will be not visiting Bill's and Dave's offices out in Palo Alto. But who cares. I already got to hang out with friends at the Googleplex, which was way cooler than the mausoleum at the corner of Hanover and Page Mill. (Yes, I did visit earlier this year. Not a single young person around.)

I haven't personally heard of anybody today, but layoffs are going on in HPE all the time. From a timeline perspective, last week and this week would be logical ones aligned to the end of the quarter. I have no doubts that plenty of people got notice today, even if I personally don't know anyone.

9 in our small group were notified today. All were working from home in AMS region. Last day will be 7/29.

I haven't heard of any today within my Organization in Houston, and I have a friend in Palo Alto that haven't heard anything either. Could you please be more specific? I'm sorry to hear that you got notice today.

They are happening, I just received my notification today. Most group were told to reduce 30 - 35% depending on regions. This is supposedly the worse in the history of the company with still more to come for Q4.

So where are all these layoffs happening? Nothing to report here.

WARN is law for US only and has some eligibility requirements. Since we haven't heard of anyone receiving 60 days paid advanced notice, then they may be working around the 50 layoffs per site rule so this isn't in effect.

There are layoffs going on in HPE continuously, so don't expect a big, "mass" day, as it doesn't make sense to them from a PR perspective. These guys know really well what they are doing. If you are given notice tomorrow, I'm really sorry for all the stress this will bring to you and your family. The only thing that I can say with confidence is that you'll get over this, and will be in greener pastures really soon.
