Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Confirmed. Houston. July 11th... Other sites as well.

Sorry... Can't provide details, as basically my whole staff is going away. I was just informed last night. There will be a meeting/training today with HR on how to handle it. I wasn't able to sleep. My team is a high performing one, and we have achieved so much... Was telling my wife that I should resign, but she asked me to think about what that would mean for our family. I feel terrible... I'm not sure how I will be able to cope with this. I just want to be out of here...

Ok, you say it has been confirmed, but I am seeing that not much happened today. Can you confirm how many in Houston or other sites were actually let go today?

Don't resign (unless you have another job lined up) otherwise you'll miss out your severance package (whatever they have whittled it down to now) and unemployment insurance. I was fortunate to be let go in the July 2015 round of layoffs where we got 1 weeks pay per year of service.

My boss told us this very same thing at our weekly staff meeting. He said the company is setting itself up to be bought out.

So, who will it be? Amazon, Dell/EMC, Cisco, NetApp?

No doubt that is the idea - but what's left that anyone would buy?

HPE Is Said to Consider Selling Some of Its Software Assets (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-07-08/hewlett-packard-enterprise-said-to-mull-selling-software-assets). In case, anyone still doubts that Meg will continue to sell HPE in pieces until it gets to a market value attractive enough for an acquisition or merger... The future of this Company is so predictable...

I'm one of the few who got the lowest rating for mid year evals from one of the sups in question earlier. I'm sure it's a sign I'll be one of the few impacted in the coming weeks.

I know of 2 Supervisors who are very close friends from the B shift. They are both Iranian. I've seen some who feel they've been retaliated against when their workers complained to upper management or HR, who have recently got the lowest ratings. These Sups have a style of playing favorites to those they just "like" the most or for those who snitch on their own co workers or for those that have been working under them for years as the other workers from other departments get treated as outcasts that led to their low grade. Some have alternated supervisors or shifts that gave them their new supervisor. The evaluations statements on them seems very non-detailed in a way that could fit almost any worker. But some of these guys have data and details that prove the evaluations to be wrong. There have been unproven cases as verbal confrontations with their supervisor and that also resulted in low ratings. If a layoff were to happen, should these guys sign the severance deal or do they have a strong case in winning a lawsuit? Maybe I can advise my friend who has been there for more than 20 years that is one of the victim's to not sign. Because I'm his witness and the guy has done so much for me and trained me at HP, I'd be more than happy to stand in front of the judge for him.

LOL at the "Game of Thrones" episode comment. Calm down everyone. Start working on the job hunt. Like someone else said, this has happened before and we all survive. Use this as a time where you are getting paid to job hunt.

Hang in there everyone!

I agree with the individual who said to stay positive. It's really out of our hands. Trust in your skills, your strengths, and your network. Collectively, between everyone that has written, we could probably lump some money and our talents together to create a great startup...

More realistically, it would be nice to have a way to connect with each other on LinkedIn (then we wouldn't be anonymous) - never know who comes in handy. As I said a little earlier, get in touch with your network, maybe folks you haven't spoken to in a while.

"Bloody Monday"... "711 Slaughter"... Is this for real? Sounds like a Game of Thrones episode. Sorry, guys... I'm just nervous...

Calm down, people! If it happens, it happens... We can't do anything about it. Stay positive. If it happens, then you plan your next steps. You won't be without a job (or a penny) overnight, so don't panic. It's not the first time we go through this, and it won't be the last...

Agree... The rumor of the "bloody Monday" has spread all over around. My boss told us just before leaving today that he was taking the day off tomorrow... He usually announce things like that with days (or weeks) of anticipation. I am scared to death... I'm in ES...

Any clues as to what groups? We talking EG / ES / etc...? I'm in EG in Houston.

I hate the waiting game - kinda ruins your weekend. Was told a few months ago to polish the resume, have been applying, but have you noticed the number of applicants per open position? It's crazy! Maybe time to move?

A friend of mine (Director) said he got asked 5 times today about July 11th, but he's as clueless as everyone else.

Maybe a support group to help HP/HPE Alums find positions to beat the odds?

I started looking months ago and it's been hard. I haven't even gotten interviews. Just auto-rejections. I'm gonna keep trying.

@xni I started my search a year before I left.... I kind of started then stopped as my WFR was rescinded since I found another position within HPE and on a super busy account. But then I was super overworked and shortly thereafter (6 months later) thrown in to the Ciber bullcrap...then pulled out of that because of the account I was working on. After that, I had enough and decided it was definitely time to go. I couldn't trust the company anymore. 5 months later, I resigned after receiving a new offer.

It will take a little bit of time but you will find something. An external, AMERICAN recruiter helped me tremendously.

Stay as long as you have to or can, but find another job. Life is so much better after HP.

sh--ty scenario for you (and even more so for your staff). Stick it out if you can handle it mentally for the continued paychecks, but keep in mind that eventually your position will also be eliminated as you no longer have personnel management related responsibilities and thus will be low hanging fruit. Use this time to find a new position while you still have the income source. HP/HPE is a dead company anyway, just a matter of who is left to turn off the lights at this point.
