Didn't Compaq own SGI at some point in the early 90s? Or at least a major portion of the stock and then sell off that stock for a quick buck? I seem to remember that or something similar. If so, this is so hilarious that HPE would waste money on another dead company.

It looks like finally an acquisition from HPE makes sense... http://www.itpro.co.uk/strategy/27085/why-hewlett-packard-enterprise-bought-sgi

SGI employees need to get their resumes dusted off now along with CSC and Aruba. Since HPE can't come up with their own products they are now on a spending spree. I am sure all this has been planned since before the split. Not surprised at all.

@heb, search for "Goliath, the flower seller" in Google. It has become a funny cult within my team here in Palo Alto. Classic!

Yes, the guy that wrote it worked for HP for a long time. If I'm not wrong, when people refer to the "Goliath's prophecy", it's in reference to something he wrote as well some time ago. I feel sorry for the SGI guys... It won't be pretty what's coming.

Obviously, this is related to "The Machine" development. But wait a second... Silicon Graphics?? Really? Do they still exist? My godness... The first thing that came to mind when I saw this was the Netscape era. They were once a big, big Company, now being gobbled by $275M... Wow... I can see this being the same fate for HPE in a few years... Still a bit shocked and speechless to know they were still doing business.

I bookmarked this article a few weeks ago. It will give them a good idea of what's coming... https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/acquisition-ivan-del-valle-cmbb?trk=pulse_spock-articles

Simple... Poor guys... If the integration will be painful, just wait until you are fully in. Welcome to paradise.
