Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Holiday pay for Memorial Day is now officially lost.

It is absolute nonsense that no statement by the DOL has been made in 7-days. Even in 2011 when under the auspices of FMCS statements were made frequently.

What big joke this has become.

My friend, in the court of law it is called mitigating your damages. Obviously your Holiday pay is no where near mine. I max out my 401K contribution during Holiday weeks.

Yep, or EWA shop was given the option to work Sunday and/or Monday. I chose to work because I really don't care to do anything else in this sh!t hole called long Island. I'll take the OT and holiday pay.

Thanks union, keep walking in your circle. I actually feel good when you all get off your asses to walk in front of my truck for a few minutes as I pull in and out of the yard. You fat fcuks are getting some exercise for once. Also, you cost me a whole 3 minutes, wow.

One day longer one day stronger!

If you or they really cared for "our customers", you'd actually work on Sunday & Monday.

So you don't really care about the customer after all.

I don't know about all EWA locations but here they gave us the option of taking Sunday and Monday off or getting the holiday pay. Personally, I took the days off but there was no shortage of volunteers for the extra pay.

EWAs have no choice. Work or get fired. Has nothing to do your great concern for the customers lol

Nice try.

Not lost for the EWAs and contractors who are willing to be on hand to help our customers on the holiday weekend.

"Also, there was no "gag agreement" in 2011."

Yes, there was.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service Director George H. Cohen issued the following statement today on the ongoing labor negotiations between the Verizon Communications Inc., the Communication Workers of America (CWA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW):

“Pursuant to the joint agreement of the above named parties, future negotiations for successor collective bargaining agreements will be conducted under the auspices of Agency Director George H. Cohen and Director of Mediation Services John Pinto commencing on Wednesday morning, July 25, 2012 at our Washington, D.C. office.”

“Because of the sensitivity of these negotiations, in keeping with our past custom and practice, and the agreement between the parties, the FMCS and the parties will refrain from any public comment concerning the future schedule and/or the status of talks among the parties until further notice.”

The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, created in 1947, is an independent U.S. government agency whose mission is to preserve and promote labor-management peace and cooperation. Headquartered in Washington, DC, with 10 district offices and 67 field offices, the agency provides mediation and conflict resolution services to industry, government agencies and communities.

"Holiday pay for Memorial Day is now officially lost."

Who cares, after 7 weeks of strike?

"It is absolute nonsense that no statement by the DOL has been made in 7-days. Even in 2011 when under the auspices of FMCS statements were made frequently."

And we got stuck with the worst contract ever. I certainly hope nothing comes out of these negotiations if we are to expect similar results. Also, there was no "gag agreement" in 2011.

"What big joke this has become."

We'll see who gets the last laugh...

FMCS!!

In 2013, The Washington Examiner reported that employees at the agency, which has a median salary of $120,000, routinely charge items such as BMW leases and spouses' cellular phones to government credit cards. It spent $50,000 on picture frames for employee awards, $500 for a single USB thumb drive, and $85,000 to a company owned by a just-retired employee. Director Cohen had the government purchase artwork painted by his wife to adorn his office, and retaliated against two whistleblowers who brought spending concerns to government regulators, firing one after a hospital stay and paying another hundreds of thousands of dollars to settle a retaliation complaint.

This org suks!!

Wow no holiday pay (double time and 1/2) for CWA/IBEW union strikers. I guess they all took out 401K loans and don't need the money.
