I think you missed a key word......average.... Pension/401k. This implies you add up everyone's pension and 401k as well as just the 401k of those that do not have a pension and divide by 40000 (Union employee head count). This result will yield a number that is greater than 100k. Now that you have your......average....you multiply that by 40k and you get 4 billion.

Promised pension 401k contribution healthcare these were all the things spelled out for me when i signed up with verizon. Now, with my contribution and everyone elses hard work, including non union "associates" this company is making billions off everyone backs. Nobody says company should not turn profit. But everyone expects to be paid what they were promised. Try telling your credit card company to make consessions and lower your APR. They will laugh you out to the collection company

some of the union folks are so damn brainwashed they just can't see the reality of the situation. It's sad that they are swallowing the nonsense hook line and sinker instead of taking care of their families. It is similar to what I've seen in the late 90s with contract firms and the push of GTE/VZ to roll people over. I kept telling friends, roll over or you are done...they didn't listen and instead bought into the contractor firms bs, they sat on the bench for a few weeks and then were cut. It's every man/woman for themselves these days. Sure the rifs are there, they are always there, strike it as nonresponsive...have your own plan always.
