They are oten not even familiar with the things they're making decisions on. Their expertise on the subject matter seems to be solely as follows - If it saves the company money in the near term, it's good, regardless of the long term effects of the decision.

True leaders look for ways to improve always. No team is so perfect it cant find ways to improve. Team metrics are just one tool to develop an organization not the be all end all
VLSS is a great tool! It helps to locate a weakness or waste. I have know that it can create more waste than it can ever fix. When you have to make a " team" to fix an issue, is the " team" that is in place useless? Anyone remember the ISO certification? I think someone has re invented the wheel and sold the snake oil to a mgmt team that is disconnected from the task at hand.
Vlss is supposed to look at a process from the user of the processes prospective. And then remove the barriars to that processes success so the users of the process can be more effeceint. Without user surveys and only using big data often makes processes more complex.

Both are tools. In right hands they add value. In wrong hands they make things worse. Comes down to people.

Funny your quote defines what VLSS is all about. Eliminating redundancy and increasing efficiency. VLSS is meant to cut the waste out of processes and procedures based on statistical analysis thereby making efficiency better. So lets keep VLSS it will make you happier if your logic follows your quote
