Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Why can't Unions just buy companies?

Seems to me that Unions should buy companies, fire the management, and make the companies Union-member owned. Shouldn't this be the goal? Let the union members and leaders run the company, and fire the "bad" members of management?

Why don't day traders have their own portfolios? Because when you buy and sell stock for someone else, you always make money no matter if the stock goes up or down.

Get with it roach

First off... building on @bck... don'the buy all of Verizon... just consumer wireline. Second... court some venture capitalists. Will it be easy, no. However, if the skill and talent is present, I am sure the backing will follow. After that, they just have to show us how it's done. That's the beauty of this system... we can all rise to the top if we work at it.

Sure that would be the ultimate goal of a true workers movement, to have companies, especially utilities belong to the people and not be privately owned. A fair question though would be can the CWA afford to buy Verizon? I think the OP knows this is not the case, and he is just trying to make what he imagines is his "big point" about Unions.

Glad the OP and his 2 admirers are so proud of our immoral system. When your life is ending, you can think back on all those lost years you spent carrying water and doing sh---work for the Oligarchs!

Is that what human life should be about? We are literally destroying the earth and exploiting our fellow human beings just to make money for a select few. Isn't it time we evolved?

If the union believed consumer wire line was half as profitable as they say it is, it should be a nobrainer... running such a cash cow can'take fail

This topic has been brought up before. The amount of complaining they do coupled with their lack of action on this topic leads me to believe they realize any such venture is doomed to failure... it is proof positive they realize that those in leadership positions are certainly better in this arena. They are satisfied to play the part of parasite.
