Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Temp worker

I am a temp worker with a 90 day contract. Was just contacted by local manager and asked if I wanted permanent status starting June 7th. Thank you union slobs for giving all this up. Now go find a job so I don't have to pay your unemployment.

Op, that may be not the case all over the strike. Supervisors wants to hire capable hands if they find. My co-workers were offered during last strike and one got offered during this strike already to stay to be permanent. That was only because they are somehow good with this new work. One handles three time more tickets than usual the union work per his super.

Okay, so if months from now the NLRB rules that Verizon is guilty of Unfair Labor Practices and THEN the unions decide to completely fold and accept the LB&F Offer, you can get your jobs back with back pay unless you are guilty of serious misconduct?

Wow! Some win for the unions that would be! Of course, wasn't it the NLRB who is appearing in court today requesting court orders in favor of Verizon? I am not sure I would bet the farm is all I am saying.

This is like watching a boxing match that should have been stopped two rounds ago. You are not so much happy for the winner as much as you are worried about the loser.

Untrue the Union has already filed Unfair Labor Practices charges against the company.

Unfair labor practice strikers defined.Employees who strike to protest an unfair labor practice committed by their employer are called unfair labor practice strikers. Such strikers can be neither discharged nor permanently replaced. When the strike ends, unfair labor practice strikers, absent serious misconduct on their part, are entitled to have their jobs back even if employees hired to do their work have to be discharged.

If the Board finds that economic strikers or unfair labor practice strikers who have made an unconditional request for reinstatement have been unlawfully denied reinstatement by their employer, the Board may award such strikers backpay starting at the time they should have been reinstated.

LOL ... "permanent employee" - too funny. The 21st century network is built and maintained by contractors. Go ask Google if you can be 1 of their "permanent employees" who build their fiber network.

Man, these union guys are so up to date on all the workplace laws yet miss such obvious loopholes that corps use to walk all over them.

The work will be done - don't get hung up on fancy titles like "permanent employee". Focus on counting $$$ in the bank.

And who will pay to litigate these "illegal" practices. Your broke assunion.

Last I heard, the union whales were only allowed $300 a week. That's not enough for your whale asses!

You wish pal. When the real workers comeback you'll be surplus and RIf'd. Plus this is entirely bogus because you will have to join a union unless you are in VA and the is a definite unfair labor practice hiring a permanent employee in a Union title during a strike. Try harder scab.
