Much praise for those "crossing" (aka showing up for work tomorrow). It's time to stop this craziness and put yourself back into the workforce. Most of us in the USA don't understand why you strike anyway. This is not 1948 and most of us (and I would argue 98% of all workers in the United States know that if we accept a job, there are no guarantees like the ones you have been demanding. We all get up in the morning, go to work and at the end of the day if we are not happy or our company decides to lay us off, then we pick the pieces and find another job. This is the United States in 2016 but for some reason just because you are in a union you think you are guaranteed something and life must be fair...etc. This is not a healthy outlook and not realistic. Time to either go back to work or find another job....better yet, time to join the rest of us. No one (unless they seek political gain or power out of understanding) values the cause you are standing for. Stop this craziness and go work your jobs tomorrow....your families are counting on you.

Bep it is called work product and it belongs to the company. Say I as a paralegal make all the legal templates for my firm and they are sent to all the office workers to use. And they are great templates and the firms uses them for years and years. But I get a bug up my butt. I created those templates after all. Does the firm owe me? No. I created the templates whilst I was working. If I quit can I take them with me? No. They are work product. Just like the the company you helped build up. I have no idea why you think you are owed anything more than the pay you received for the work you did 30 years ago.
A CEO does not do it by themselves. They have a workforce. And while my expectation is not that I make 18 mil plus but if s company is making 1.8 Bil in profit I would hope we can keep some those jobs in America. Also you seem to be under the impression that we don't like our jobs, the fact is we like them and want to be paid a living wage to do them. Verizon is not going bankrupt. if I help to build something then why should I not reap the reward. I won't be crossing you kept posting and let's revisit when this is all said and done
Absolutely agree with the OP and @una
We have the freedom to leave our jobs and find another if we don't like it. Great restaurant analogy, why keep going back to something you hate? Anyone returning to work will be met with open arms.....
All I am saying here is that relying on Corporate CEOs and Union CEOs (no difference here folks) to sit down in a room and figure out what is best for your career is no position to be in. The corporate CEOs know you need your job and the union CEOs know that you need them so you are in a worse position than I am since I don't answer to a union and I am willing to leave my job to find another one if I am not happy with it. You are truly dependent on the corporate CEO and the union CEO...not a good place to be. Don't just waste your time picketing (which I would argue is not really having any impact), find other opportunities!
Demanding more for yourself involves the willingness to leave a company and find another opportunity if you don't like the situation you are in. If you eat at a restaurant and you have a bad meal, you wouldn't show up every morning and try to talk the chef into preparing the food better would you. Instead you would chose a different restaurant to eat at next time. And is CEO's salary at any company really your business? Demanding more for yourself should come gaining your independence in the workforce...not from depending on a union. It is probably a different way of looking at life than what you are used to, but give it a try because it is what true freedom really means.
I'll be at my Picket Duty tomorrow!
I'll be at work @ 7am, come see me on the picket line. You're to much of a sheeple puss to fight for what's right. Don't lecture us on fairness you corporate drone.
guess who wrote this post. Bob, Mark, Lowell or an intern?
You should demand more for yourself. Unless you are a CEO making 250% more then your employees. Then I would understand your post. You should strive for more in the working middle class and not for your job to be outsourced.
