How realistic is to expect that we will merge with Chevron?

I know for a fact it would be in the best interest of BP to sell off to Chevron. Due to the fact they have a couple of well ops mgr and team leads that all they care about is making their self look good no matter the cost even if means stabbing their employees in the back to do so. I have seen it personally and forget HR their not any help they are scared for their jobs as well.

The downfall of BP in the US is going to be because of that bunch of idiots in the Houston office that wants to drill wells from there instead of allowing the men in the field to do their jobs. Basically if your in the field with BP all you do is answer the phone and relay whether practical are not that's how it's done.

Wow. Amazing how accurate the assessments in these forums can be. Refreshing to say the least.

Chevron would take Lower 48 assets pennies on the dollar and GOM. Divest the rest, I don;t know when Alaska will ever make sense again.

BP stock the way things are going is southbound, teens in sight.

What I don;t understand is how we come out and announce 4000 layoffs over a 2 year time period. Not a morale booster, I suppose they just want us to scrap it out and prove our worth to keep our jobs?

I think it's idiotic. It demonstrates also a lack of faith in our ability to grow.

Just another bad sign

Agreed about BP employees. Nobody wants their culture and legions of feminazis. It's no wonder BP is worst performing major. The boys in the field have their balls cut off, while the girls in corporate spin their PC charm and BS their way through the day.

This deal would make sense - the market caps are similar but there is a lot of overlap and both companies are financially weak right now. I am with &chevron and I am not sure that anybody here would be excited about the deal..

Chevron might buy the subsurface assets but nobody in the industry wants to hire ex-bp employees in a buyers market.

If prices continue to fall, anything is possible - this will be a game of attrition, whoever has enough cash flow will survive
