Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

CEO says reduction in force

  1. says layoffs are probable in "parts" of the business, but leadership will "minimize" impact to people. People are first.

He says he hears the comments about profits before safety, and nothing can be further from the truth.

You have to believe him, right?

Maybe WE should start a Union Thread
What better way for us to organize and change the union leadership.

Why do we keep the current Union Leadership? They need to GO!!!
The Board of Directors Needs to GO!!!
The person or persons responsible for allowing the Slat tracks to be used
Needs to be hauled off in Cuffs!!!
A lot of things need to change!!!
Our Union S—s; Our Union S—s; Our Union S—s. We Get It.
It is as if our Union {Is Boeing Management}.
They Both Need To Go,
Your Point Is Made.

After the "psyops" post I now know why the cost of foil was so high at the grocery store. It's not about tariffs, it is about most of the people here buying it up to make hats.

There is not a devil around every corner and I doubt management even knows about this small corner of the internet (or cares)

They know that if they lay people off, they won't go find other jobs. Therefore, they are available to be hired back. Very simple. If Boeing thought that laid off individuals were seeking alternate employment and only 60% would come back in 3 to 6 months when called, they would not lay off and if they did, they would be screwed.

If Union Leadership EVER lived up to their promises the first time I had money removed from my check for dues, we would have a pension, medical care, bonuses, etc...but the benefits erode every year, union leadership can't even keep them the SAME from contract to contract, they always get worse and I spend the next 4 to 6 years listening to my coworkers b–ch about it.

As of late (4 years) Boeing has struggled to build aircraft since imposing
unrealistic production rates while experienced union members decline.

Again, you want to twist it. No one said anything about the MAX being the fault of the union. They did nothing wrong.

As for division...let's see

You have union execs who negotiate away your benefits and reccomend approval, for what is anyone's guess.

You have the old timers (the ones who know a bad deal when they see it) who urge the rest of the membership to reject the contract offer, even when the leadership suggests approval. Mainly because they have enough seniority that when the layoffs happen after the strike they are safe. They deride the younger members and Boeing management for the bad deal when the membership approved it.

You have the new hires who don't care about retirement and benefits, they just want cash in their pocket.

Sounds like you have division, you don't need psyops.

My point has always been, Boeing CAN'T build airplanes without union labor (see SC). IF the union would ever realize that and choose to leave rather than b–ch, Boeing might not be as quick to lay off.

Purpose to deflect employee focus from the failures of management onto the

Union Leadership Is Corrupt; yes, they do collude with Management.
The small few at the Union Top do not represent their working members.
They are sellouts, you know of who I speak. They got their pensions.
Mr. Joe-Blow Excusive Director is only interested in self preservation.
He and his kind could care less about the reservation or its sorrows.
They are on the edge or retirement taking all they can by any means necessary.

I respect what you have to say, but I don't think you understood.

Nowhere did I say union folks are unskilled or uneducated. I believe exactly the opposite. Union folks have skills, but rather than find another job with those skills when laid off, they sit around and wait for mother Boeing to call them back.

If Boeing feared union folks would get another job when laid off, Boeing would not be as quick to let people go.

You also made my point for me. You have a long career, you are skilled, and you are educated. If you were not in the union already, you would not even consider it to be on the bottom of the todem.

My point is that union folks made the rules, the union voted to relinquish those benefits. It is unfortunate that the younger crowd drove that, but they did. Now you are where you are and will never get those benefits back. Unions want everyone to think like them, when there is deviating and independent thought they complain. Everyone gets a voice, unless we don't like what they say.

Again, your union leadership RECCOMENDED the last contract, and the youngins passed it. Ever wonder what was in it for the union leadership? They are just as corrupt and collude with Boeing management.

To the commenter below yah me too:
I have a long work history in manufacturing along with higher education.
This gives me a sense of entitlement as I have paid my dues. Then there’s
all of my experience, this imbues a high level of confidence some might
say arrogance, but what do they know.
Why should I accept a level 2 offer selling my soul to what, a corporation.
For what, to be at the bottom of seniority, I mean who does this union rift
raft think they are? Do they think the working class is the soul of Boeing?

Everyone who can see and think knows that management is the realm of
the gods. So with so many lives lost, but that of mere mortals who among
us should shed a tear.

You Rock!!! @4hyr - You get it since you got it. Wall Street owns Boeing.

It's a great post, it gets a lot of applause, but it is meaningless.

This is how Unions work. The majority rules and over time the majority gets younger. You can't hire older workers because no 40 y/o will come and join the union and go to the bottom of the seniority list, so, all you can hire are youngins.

This is the problem with unions and left policies in general. It's all about "power to the people" and "free speech" until you don't like what the people have to say.

You made the rules, now you get to live by them. Would I have voted for the "now" bonus, no, I would not. But I am not part of the union and I am too old to join to be at the bottom of the list.

What is it they used to say "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit"

Good luck.

Those that gave up the pension, union Bennie's, medical all for a "Now" 1 time bonus of a couple dollars a day will now understand what it's like to live with ma and Pa the rest of ur life!!! The elders fought to keep employees working but u gave it away for a new cheap car. Those new cars u bought...u can't keep bc u can't afford them. New motto, hire young employees with no skills 2 build planes and see how it all end up in the wash. All about NOW ! used 2b a great Co. To work 4. Will anyone stand up ? It's been 8 months without income and it will go to 12 months.
There is no reason for customers to pay for aircraft they cannot fly.
The Max was to enter service with a Same-As NG Type Rating.
Breach of Contract, Misrepresentation of product, you name it.
After Boeing has provided training for the pilots, then there will be income.

Entitled; Arrogant; Disconnected from the real world.
Leadership’s behavioral traits have a trickle-down effect, people emulate.
Leadership provides a role model. They have done well at that.

Now that Boeing has fallen from the heavens and landed hard, back on earth.
That entitled, arrogant attitude does not serve them well, does it.
They reap what you sow.

Oh no!!! No bottled water, no company holiday dinner?

FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS!

You are so entitled that you can't see how much money we have been losing since the MAX shutdown, the possibility it may NEVER fly again, and the fact that through all of that there have been zero layoffs.

Boeing IS doing everything it can to avoid you losing your job and you b–ch about not having bottled water (which is not good for the environment anyway).

You could bring your own water, or you could be without a paycheck and selling your F150?

We are running out of things to cut and I fear layoffs are not too far away now, but for God Sake, it's been 6 months of no income from the 737 line and you all still have a job.

You're absolutely right anonymous. The world needs theese planes now. We will build them. however a temporary rate reduction will happen. Unfortunately some grade 3s and 4s will be heavily impacted. Some will be offered other opportunities. There are over 700 indelivered 737s. The line cannot remain at the current output levels.

OK; I’ll weight in on the - “I heard from management”
It will be up to 10 years of seniority. Anyone under 10 years gone.
LAMO
Try selling that trinket to some tourist. In this world, when we get back up
Production is going up, “baring a world economic downturn” Renton will be
Producing the Max, there is pent-up demand needed to meet increased travel
And to replace aging aircraft.
Airbus alone can’t do it. That is Boeing’s only saving grace at this time.
In 2030 that’s a whole different topic. For now airlines need planes.
Plain and simple.
People are going to build that aircraft. The world is counting on them.
I call it math
Setting aside the right or Wrong, of Boeing, The world needs planes.
We might be working under Lockheed Martin but we will be building planes.
{IMHO}
