In an interview last week with the Wall Street Journal, AT&T Chief Operating Officer John Stankey gave a bleak assessment of Sunday Ticket saying it wasn't a "growth product." He argued the stiff price increases the NFL wanted for the service that allows fans to watch out-of-market games couldn't be justified.

"wasn't a "growth product." " which means it isn't 2000000% profit and he can't lock people in like they do with mobile phones. no worries the mobile phone glory days are coming to an end. so att can't compete on an even playing field they have to use their size, money, and lock people in to dominate.

Why do people listen to stankey. Isn't his track record proof enough not to listen to him. He marginalizes everything he touches and keeps getting rewarded.
Who owns the NFL Sunday ticket? The Crown Jewels of an older demographic that sits on their sofas all weekend and doesn’t drive the economy... that’s AT&T. Who’s the official wireless sponsor of the NFL and owns the red zone and mobile NFL streams that the younger demographic that spends money and consumes more? That would be Verizon. Randall bought swampland. VZ bought California Coastline. AT&T needs smarter leadership. Quit breaking the dumb pipe that used to make money hand over fist and provide solid careers to thousands of people...
It might not be a growth product but it is about the only product that prevents churn. If they lose Sunday Ticket the floodgates will open even further.
Yet when he got DTV he touted how great the NFL Sunday Ticket was, I think we even had quite periods just before the start of football season when customers were signing up. For a guy who knows more about TV than the people in the TV industry he is not doing a very good job.
Maybe stanky can now market the Friend's Sunday ticket?
@rti....and what, watch the college choir boys play on Saturday?
Just drop the National Felons League altogether.
