Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

It very simple to Turn the Verint Program off and also fun.

If you don't like Verint. If you don't enjoy being spied on every moment of your work day just turn it off. I did. Such fun! This really messes with supervisor's head. To deactivate the program simply go into your system's control panel, under programs and deselect Verint. Voila! You are no longer under surveillance. You can also reset your mouse settings to show that you are never away from your system or never sitting idle. Such fun! You have instantly become the best worker on planet Humana. I recommend deactivating Verint for intervals at a time. Perhaps, 3 days off and then 2 days on - until your supervisor notices that you are not being properly spied upon. At which point, you can always make the case that 'there must be a flook in the system'. Such fun!

the verint system can be easily deactivated by going into the control panel and de- selecting it from the list of installed and running programs. Management would prefer you not know this. Yes, this will eventually send a red flag to the management. However, as the system is running on AI, faulty and loaded with bugs there is no way to determine what has caused the 'malfunction'. One might even conclude that the AI has determined that its best solution is to turn itself off rather than participate in the Humana workforce. Just one of many possible solutions. There is no way to determine, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the user has deliberately pulled Verint's plug. lol

Verint is like no other monitoring system. It is an AI (artificial intelligence) human management system. You are being monitored and controlled by a machine - the same as every other Humana employee. Some might consider this an insult to the innate intelligence that they were born with. Once the user has logged into the verint system he/she has now entered the the verint artificial sci fi, workforce management solutions twilight zone. Control like this can be easily abused. I would not have it in the home or office. I immediately planned my exit from Humana when this system was installed rather than continue logging into the verint twilight zone. As humans, we still do maintain some free will. Quitting Humana, has been the most intelligent workforce management decision I have ever made. The quality of my life is better and I'm a far happier person not having to co-exist with a computer. I'm pursuing a completely different line of work completely grounded in the human zone and metrics free.

OK, so there are a ton of inaccuracies here.

First, on any company owned system, there is no right to privacy, and anything that is done on the system can be monitored. Anything. So trying to alter the machine or what is running, can be known. Everything.

Second, Skype and it's predecessor Lync, have always been monitored. Every time your status changes in Skype, your manager gets (or can get, if they didn't turn it off) a pop up notification with the status. The Kentucky puritans used to have filtering software that flagged curse words & "obscenities" in Skype. I got flagged and had to write an incident report because a foreign name I sent someone in the dept. triggered it (if I recall, I think it was a Vietnamese name with Phuc or Dong in the name). It's not just Verint that monitors mouse movement, Skype does as well.
https://www.amazon.com/Liberty-Mouse-Mover-Blue-Black/dp/B07P6HBD1N is a much better option than trying to fiddle with a PC setting.

Third, Verint is a large company that makes a number of products with differing capabilities. Yes, they make large scale network monitoring products. They also make systems like they sell to Humana for employee monitoring. The old Avaya phone system could, and was monitored. Verint just happens to put it all in one box. Cisco & Juniper networking equipment has always had the capability to monitor network traffic.

Personally, I always tape over cameras & microphones on any PC I don't own, and only use a USB headset I can unplug.

I’m not as concerned about myself because like others have said we knew all along we were being monitored I am annoyed about the increase in micro managing but I figure just do my job as before and keep my options open for other jobs. I was just thinking though , about the members. Little do they know all their personal private info is being recorded and stored by this huge third party data base and who knows what Verint can or would do with that info either intentionally or accidentally.

i keep my Humana computer in a lead lined, hermetically sealed room with vapor barrier. An in-depth probe by Haaretz, published on Friday, revealed a number of secretive firms specializing in snooping on smartphones and laptops had sold systems to Bahrain, South Sudan, United Arab Emirates (UAE), N—ria, Botswana, Mexico, Azerbaijan—and more.

Named companies included NSO Group, Verint Systems, Circles Technologies, Elbit Systems and Fifth Dimension. Haaretz, which said it relied on testimonies of 100 sources in 15 different countries, found that superpowered spying tools—used to snoop on phonecalls, texts, online activity, emails and audio—had been used on civilians, often to grave consequence.

from news article re verint: Meet the American Company Helping Governments Spy on “Billions” of Communications. Every day, billions of emails and phone calls flow through communications networks in countries across the world. Now, one American company has built technology capable of spying on them all—and business is booming.

Verint, a leading manufacturer of surveillance technologies, is headquartered in Melville, N.Y., in a small cluster of nondescript buildings that also includes the office of a multinational cosmetics supplier and some electronics companies.

Among Verint’s products are some of the world’s most sophisticated eavesdropping equipment, creating a line of spy tools designed to help governments and intelligence agencies snoop on communications across an entire country. Verint sells what it calls “monitoring centers” that “enable the interception, monitoring, and analysis of target and mass communications over virtually any network.” These systems are designed to be integrated within a country’s communications infrastructure and, according to Verint’s website, are currently used in more than 75 nations.

The National Security Agency has reportedly purchased Verint snooping equipment, as have authorities in Mexico. However, the use of such technology in the United States is a legally contentious issue.............. no big deal ???

homeworkers, a humana computer loaded with Verint is the last thing you want in your home office sitting next to your Shakespeare collection or medical reference books. Verint is a high level , highly secretive, surveillance system used in airports, by the TSA and other intelligence agencies. It is 100% automated and artificial intelligence driven. It is faulty - hacked by ransomware. Half of Verint's workers are based in Israel and associated with israeli intelligence. A humana computer laced with this software must be kept behind closed doors at all times and no other personal business should be conducted in this room. Consider it an off limit foreign space. I would not have it my home. Do your own research. From article: "The purchase from Israeli-American company Verint Systems, chronicled in documents obtained by The Associated Press, offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look into how easy it is for a country to purchase and install off-the-shelf surveillance equipment. The software allows governments to intercept voice calls, text messages and emails."

Yes they can use their computer camera. It is their computer and they can use anything to monitor us that they have available. When you’re hired you were required to sign a form agreeing to use Humana’s equipment only for your position. Just place a piece of tape over the camera. No big deal

No one is spying on you through the camera people. Verint does record your calls and activity on the computer. It can also record your screen. If you’re doing your job there’s nothing to worry about.

People, they’ve been using the program for a long time, but just made it open for you to see what you already know...every call, how long it is, etc....it’s the visual report of the aux codes. They aren’t video spying on you, if you’re that concerned, cover the camera on your computer. Every call we give a disclaimer that the call may be recorded or monitored for training purposes. We gave reviews done based on calls pulled and our documentation. Why is this so astounding? It is humanas equipment, so you can’t use it for personal use. How is this unethical? How is this so stupefying for some?

verint waste of time and money. In general, studies of surveillance suggest that it can increase workplace stress, promote worker alienation, lower job satisfaction, and convey the perception that the quantity of work one generates is more important than its quality. In an analysis aptly titled “Watching Me Watching You,” the British anthropologists Michael Fischer and Sally Applin conclude that workplace surveillance creates “a culture where … people more often alter their behavior to suit machines and work with them, rather than the other way around,” and that this tends to erode their sense of “agency.” That is, the constant surveillance of employees diminishes their capacity to operate as independent thinkers and actors. Worse yet, some studies suggest that workers who sense they are monitored have lower self-esteem and are actually less productive. In fact, Anteby told me, those of us who do “cheat” on the job often do so in retaliation for the very lack of trust surveillance implies

Ethics Humana style means agreeing to the unethical and neutering ones conscience - by surrendering 4th amendment right to privacy and pledging allegiance to manila. Verint surveillance falls into the category of unreasonable search and seizure prohibited by the constitution. Supporting manila workers is unconscionable. The cost of working here is far too great than anything humana could possibly pay me.

someone please explain to me why i'm able to turn verint off at will. ?? has nothing to do with skype. management doesn't want you to know that you are ultimately in control of any surveillance that has been placed in your home (if you are a home worker)

@10tvZduF-4ggt There is no privacy, you agree to that when you do ethics training. Humana has the right to set THEIR PC to record whatever they want. In this case Humana even tells you they're doing it. Your Skype settings wont change what Verint see's. The Verint settings are not controlled on your PC, it's all cloud based and is recorded real time. Go to the Verint web site. This is Big Brother and your tinkering with settings won't change a thing.

Big Green Brother may know about this web site. However, there is no way to prove that computer settings have been altered or adjusted by the individual user. This is not a crime. If you are a home worker, this falls under the heading of your 4th amendment right to privacy and maintaining one's privacy in one's home.

sorry Humana management, don't blow a gasket. You're not the only ones who know how to fleece the US public. You continue to sell US medicare advantage policies here in the states while never leaving your desks in Manila - where you house medicare advantage policies . Since when has the US medicare dept relocated to Manila. how is this legal?
