Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Staples crew leaving anytime soon?

Just wondering?

I don't think things will ever return to normal in ET till they leave for the next account to push "IT transformation" onto their next client. Executive can thank them for fulfilling the role they were brought here for, they can cash out, and move on.

Came to State Farm from middle management and rose like a rocket to senior exec. Why would they leave?

As we end this year we should be thankful for the different perspectives that have created a path of good outcomes.

Just look at ET Claims - delivering great work and leadership is removing obstacles! Watch us go!

@Unup

Clearly you haven't been paying attention. It's the ones who embrace the change that get left behind. The rest of us keep our skills sharp because we can see where this is headed.

We've been watching this same leadership group chew up scenery for a very long time. The only thing that's changed is the name of the initiative. Like all the ones preceding it, this one ends in the same place. Hell, one look around Systems and this is patently obvious. It's the same as it ever was, only now with inept managers pretending to be product owners.

Not Systems anymore friend. Clearly not a part of the transformation. If you are not for change - you are left behind.

Leadership in Systems hasn't made a good decision in about a decade. So no, I would not "trust in the system."

Disagree. You just have to trust in the system.

@Smgx

Staples is a train wreck of a company that has been run into the ground. Just do some market research.

And no, good ideas don't come from the Staples crew.

Staples is growing. Good ideas come from other industry. Leadership to change is inportant.

You're transforming alright. From a dysfunctional piece of junk (CDE) to a completely broken, irreparable hunk of c-ap.

Good momentum is building in ET. A lot of haters out there. We are transforming.

It seems a bit like Harold Hill in Music Man. Maybe if we canvassed for some external leadership we would be surprised at who else we attracted.

I read the Forbes article and it is full of inaccuracies. It’s unfortunate to see such a lack of integrity from a senior leader who appears to be entirely focused on shameless self-promotion.

Say what you will about the "Staples crew", but at least they are trying to shake things up and introduce different methodologies, unlike the three who ran Systems. The old crew only seemed interested in forcing down overly burdensome, largely non-value added processes. That, and perpetuating the Good Ol' Boy and Girl Club. It took E12 forever and a month to finally realize that and make a change.

We need to get comfortable with execs entering and leaving. It brings in new ideas, focus, and accelerates change. A new norm where promote from within wont continue to work.

Want to know why ET goes through useless transformation after transformation and each time gets less productive? It's because SF is way too top heavy. There are too many useless managers at every level that have nothing to do except to plot their path to their next promotion, which they do by proposing that the wheel be reinvented for the umpteenth time.

And you know what? This transformation did not make ET less top heavy, because the consultant never tells the wallet that HE's the problem.

So this problem is not going to go away.

It's funny to hear people here talking about "embracing agile" when the rest of the industry has abandoned all of it except the Agile Manifesto. It's like showing up to the party after it's over.

Holy Christ, the pro-Executive trolls in this thread are unbelievable. No one on the inside thinks this transformation has worked, or that it will work. It's basically just more of the same nonsense that they foisted on us with CDE... only this is worse because this second transformation is mostly just undoing all the unnecessary mistakes they made the first time around.

Get rid of the pension? You must not be one of the rising stars, the dumbest comment ever.

Even if they depart we are now in a better place to recruit outside execs with talent and skill. Wasnt like that when we were looking for several years to bring in lower level execs.

If you want to keep young rising stars eliminate the pension and the old timers. They drag the company down

I was the OP would leave. They brought much needed change. It’s night and day different for so much the better. The fact you can’t embrace customer first, agile, product management and accountability shows you are stuck in the early 2000s.

Nope, they are here for the duration. And that is a good thing. They are doing a great job. Much better than the previous crew locked into some DP ( not IT) time warp.....
