So how long can they stay out on a ulp strike? Certain number of days for each ulp charge? Does the ulp for the write ups in FL allow all of D3 to stay out?

Stay out! Force the companies hand! Most managers don't have a clue!

“Additional unfair labor practice charges have been filed against the company in Florida for illegally disciplining members for wearing union memorabilia and for participating in activities that are protected under the National Labor Relations Act. CWA members in South Florida initiated a strike over the company’s unfair labor practices on August 22.“

@bar The ULP strike can end Wednesday or when AT&T addresses ALL the reasons why the ULP strike occurred. Lack of good faith bargaining wasn’t the only ULP violation filed by CWA.

I’m guessing it will be over Wed as mentioned before. From what I’ve seen only local managers within 50 miles have been deployed to District 3.

@tzo, you are correct, but it was made clear that the strike is not over the contract terms but rather the ULP of lack of good faith bargaining by T. With that in mind, the question stands as is:
In your opinion, Would you agree that since bargaining has resumed today, assumably in good faith with qualified competent negotiators, should the ulp strike cease?

@kpx "In your opinion, Would you agree that since bargaining has resumed today, assumably in good faith with qualified competent negotiators, should the ulp strike cease?"

The lack of AT&T negotiators who are authorized to truly negotiate isn't the only complaint.

The impending hurricane that’s about to hit Florida should provide some additional leverage to those on strike. Keep it up, and god bless.

you don't even know the status of your strike? do you not have a CWA website to read/post-to? the communication workers of america...can't even communicate with their own people? you definitely need some higher pay and free medical care. perhaps you guys should look into investing some union dues, into some social media skills. keep on truckin'

OP here. Union hasn’t sent out any blasts so no work for me tomorrow. Not too concerned about “lack of communication” unexcused absences. We in this together.

@zgi, very intelligent response. In your opinion, Would you agree that since bargaining has resumed today, assumably in good faith with qualified competent negotiators, should the ulp strike cease?

@zbl....unfair labor practice by T of failure to bargain in good faith by not having a representative at the bargaining table who was authorized to negotiate a deal....others feel free to chime in if that's not specific or correct enough.

Curious – what is the specific ULP the union has identified as the reason to strike?

It's not over.

@jow That's not correct.

If the unfair labor practice has been resolved the union has to tell the membership to go back to work. It's no longer a protected absence. An Unfair Labor Practice strike can occur any time the union feels the company violates the NLRA and other labor laws and files an ULP complaint with the labor board. It's possible to have multiple ULP strikes during negotiation.

If the union and the company come to an impasse on the language of the new contract, the union can call a general strike which is considered "The Big One". That's the one where the membership stays out until a new contract is reached.

Now that bargaining has resumed, the strikers have every right to stay out if the union is not agreeing with what the company is proposing. They also know that if they go back in too soon, they will not be able to strike again.

Good question. If bargaining has resumed this ulp strike should be over.
