Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The worst of the layoffs is yet to come

These rifs coming up will be larger. That’s the fastest way to make the numbers look better and the numbers don’t look good right now.

This is it in a nutshell. We are looking at major layoffs because we have management that is incapable of fixing the numbers in any sustainable way. The only thing they know how to do is reduce the headcount. Which is exactly what's about happen one more time.

@@2emx+1j4G3BQf, yes, its hard especially when management makes poor decisions and waste billions on failed businesses. Its really hard to choose who will be sacrificed for their mistakes.

Layoffs are difficult for upper management to decide upon but they are necessary sometimes.

If we could get full sti, full 2023 stock grant, and 2 weeks per year I think 50% of my department would be happy to be laid off. The others have t been here long enough for the 2 weeks per to matter.

Not surprising at all. Over 20 years and this is by far the most dysfunctional we (my co-workers) have EVER seen this company. Nothing gets fixed in a timely manner. Omni 2.0 and B360 systems are terrible and you have to go through several departments to get things fixed. No targets for fixes and more things break when a fix happens. The company is cannibalizing itself. Got into prepaid game with trac phone. Another horrible deal. The consumer channel sells business for the Business channel. Commission is no longer a thing so sales have gone down. And what on earth is going on with cell service…by far the worst it’s ever been. It’s just sad. I’m holding on to hope and preparing for possible RIF.

Vz stock has tanked.. the natural knee jerk reaction is a large RIF to show immediate Opex reduction to the shareholders. Let’s see what the leadership does.

You get all of your stock grant in March 2023 and full payout of your target STI if you are RIF'ed with your last day on payroll of 12/31.
Additionally you get 35 weeks pay and medical benefits as severance (actually it is 2 weeks pay for every year of service capped at 35 weeks).

Your description feels like a completely viable 2022 Verizon answer.
All the silos between the groups in Verizon, departments not communicating properly, causing projects to push due to something as simple as not following a process.

But hey, let’s impact the workers!

Do you get your stock that vests in March 2023 if you are RIFed? Is your bonus prorated?
