I heard there’s going to be a title refresh for bands 7T and 7V.
Considering everyone 6V and above got title bumps, I wonder what it will be?

I could see that happening. With our revised promotion policy and a 10% cap on raises, a 7T coming off an evening shift would net a 0% pay increase taking a principal engineer job.
And the company is going to get their value out of you being salaried. Whether it’s more than 40 hours, or working an on call rotation. Definitely a downgrade from a 7T. I could see PE’s demanding to be hourly.
The title of distinguished engineer is just a retention tactic for people about to retire. They offer them a salary bump to keep them on through a transition. Same with PMTS at AT&T, which is about as high as the engineering track typically goes.
There is LMTS (lead) and DMTS (distinguished) at Big Blue, but LMTS is like seeing a unicorn, and all the DMTS are in Bedminster, it seems. DMTS at Verizon are not centralized.
Per the example of eng roles, 1, 2, 3, etc. This is how the India outsourcing companies identify roles.
all smoke and mirrors
Your new title will be quite simply "Customer".
That is the funniest thing I’ve read this year. 7Vs and 7Ts? They already put us another step away from the former next step with the big empty manager level that if we try really hard, are in the right place, and were going to get a bump up anyways we will get to go to maybe. I do wonder if it’ll be watered down with sti/rsus.
Yes it is confirmed....all eng will be back into band 7...band 7 will have eng 1,2,3, junior, senior, senior ver 1, ver 2 , ver 3 , principal, principal 1, principal 2, principal 3 and distinguished will be extinguished.....
