I have to say it’s a little disheartening reading all of these posts. I have been unhappy with business decisions but at the same time I’m very thankful to have a job and a really nice place to work. I wish there was a little more balance here vs people ripping on leader and co-workers. Am I wrong?

OP, let me see if I get it correctly. So you are very happy with your job but you come to a site called layoffs and then you complain why people are negative on the layoff site?
You are so d-mb ... 🙄 If you truly work at Nike I can see why the stock is going downhill. Probably because of d-mb as--s like you!
If you were happy, you were not here
If you were happy, you were not looking for reasons as WHY you are happy ... You are indeed unhappy and you are just seeking for justification to prove otherwise so your brain does not deal with negative... Defense mechanism
If you were truly happy, you were not on this site! You are unhappy deep inside but you are just looking for reasons to convince yourself... I know whenever I am unhappy with my life, I start counting my blessing. It is a defense mechanism
I think @yii+1tqClWpH hit it on the head. Everyone is tackling this differently. Some people come on here and complain, others are stressed out, some are mad, others are indifferent.
I’ve chatted with all my friends in all different areas of the business and that sums up their emotions. One common thread between all of us is a lack of faith in the Sr. leadership to steer the ship in the right direction.
I think that’s the most concerning for me.
I’ll be happy if I was able to work from home whenever I wanted
This website is called “The Layoff!!!” not “Tell us you love your job!!” Most people on here were laid off and can’t find work, so just be quiet.
Looooong time employee here.
I will always stand by the brand as I’ve had an amazing life at the Swoosh and hope I get to retire on my own terms.
There’s so many things that got us to this point today and many long time employees saw it coming.
The issue I have is the lack of accountability and sincerity from our Leaders. With anything negative like this, it’s good to admit fault, share the issues, be sincere and passionate in order to align a future path and grow from your mistakes. You know, be human!
They have done everything the opposite.
I remember a layoff and reorg under MP and when he stood in front of all us, he was humbled. He admitted all the mistakes and plan to fix them. He said something like “I know everyone is mad at me right now” or “everyone hates me” and poured his soul out on stage. It was a genuine speech of defeat that ended in “we will fix this by xyz”. It was clear, genuine, human, and from the heart.
We bounced back quickly and better.
From a personal standpoint, I will continue to do my job at the best of my ability and when the day comes when I leave, voluntarily or not, I will have a clean conscious that I was on the good side. As just one person, that’s all I can do!
I do understand the anger from others or people coming from other companies in our current chaos too. Everyone will handle this differently depending on their longevity, skills, direct leadership they work with daily, etc..
OP- Have you seen the stock performance?
Why do you visit this site?
Classic Portland nicehole. But the time this was posted suggests you’re one of the people that benefited from Nike offshoring everything not nailed down.
Of course you’re going to love your job, no oversight or accountability with an amazing paycheck for your region.
OP, i understand the counting your blessings piece, but a “nice” place to work is not the same as a “good” place to work. What so nice about it? The cool buildings? The pretty campus? Is the bar set so low that’s supposed to be the selling point? Should we all just keep getting crapped on and ask for more just because we are o-so-lucky to work for the swoosh? Yes, some of us are still employed, and we’re thankful for that, because that will give us enough time to leave this sh-tshow on our own terms.
Only you OP are the happy one with how Nike treats you. The rest of us have lived through the nightmare - beautiful campus and shiny objects cannot make up for bullying ELT and a toxic work culture
Not happy as a shareholder, more changes are needed: change the c-level leadership, further cut the layers of management, less outsourcing.
Have you seen the stock price recently? Fu-k off
Half of the people on this board don’t even work at Nike, some never did. The other half work in GT. Focus on real life instead.
I think if you truly understand the brand, the business and look at decisions that have been made by leadership you understand why people aren’t happy. In the last four years the best two days of the month were always the days I got paid.
