Thread regarding Rockwell Automation Inc. layoffs

Out of touch leadership

We literally have customers telling us what they want, but all management wants is to sell software. How did it get like this?

@19y Don't make the people of "Western Hemisphere" sound like dinosaurs. And yes, I am from Western Hemisphere, but this is the most ignorant and racist comment I have heard!
Each geography has their own career nuances, doesn't make us superior by any measure. Maybe that's why all the jobs are moving, to not have people like you in them!
And to all those supporting this racism you are no better!

And yes I support both DEI and global teams, and no I don't benefit from either.

@yf for a meaningful pay increase you must change the role/position/company …staying in the same role and expecting a significant pay increase % is very naive

@kf if you are looking for a meaningful pay increase.. you are at the wrong company.. the only people that get good pay bumps are director + and those that internally jump jobs all the time to get pay bumps.. outside of that we are lucky to get 2% a year (if that) and maybe.. maybe a bonus. Even though we beat earnings and yada yada yada.. all that means is the Exec team is on track for their bonus payouts.

@cy the company can soul search all it wants. I need a raise

@OP the business can easy remove at least one layer of middle management and improve execution efficiency. Some departments can be consolidated to improve execution of projects

@OP well it seems to me that the company is in a “soul searching mode”.

Invest into core hardware products or all out in software or some happy medium? Or go into shopping spree and acquire “promising” start ups.

I cannot see any significant changes in senior executive leadership structure / quality as the stock price is high enough.

As with many big corps, The senior leaders are not founders. They are mostly salesmen who have mastered the art of optics, communication, charisma, and politics.

@a1 typical reaction… “software is high margin”… ok but software also requires a different business model and employee talent. Trying to do one without the other means failure of both.

Blake is cosplaying a great ceo. He has ruined the company. The performance compared to peers has been bottom quartile. He was ill equipped to improve Rockwell. Because of the inertia, death is slow. He has facilitated the decline. He believes he has changed the culture. He has. For the worse. I left 8 years before I would have. So have dozens of other leaders. And we got replaced by outsiders who lasted 3 years and isotherm. Now you are stuck with Matt, Bobby, Tessa,…….. good but not great.

@a1 you have no idea. Hardware margin is quite high. Especially controllers and attached items. Plex will never payoff. SW in hyperscalers is awesome. Industrial automation is not a hyperscaler. Sw makes the hw more valuable. Your insight is flawed.

Well there is a much higher margin on software sales. The hardware is a commodity these days. Reality
