Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

“Right Sizing” Branches

The staffing levels for retail is insane. I lead a relatively small area compared to some of the areas of my peers and my branches are almost always running on two teammates between all the pto being used in the branch. Whether it’s sick time or vacation, or both, there’s a constant two teammates working. This creates problems because the team needs lunch coverage and all of my locations are in the same situation for years. I had a location again recently where we couldn’t obtain lunch coverage and a 60+ UB had an accident on the service line because they couldn’t get a break all day. Is this what this bank is coming to? I have had almost ten “accidents” like this in my area that I’m aware of because people don’t have the staffing support to step away from their job and take a break. This is becoming so ridiculous that I think regulators need to step in or a union petition be heard for vote. When I share this feedback to my regional manager, they tell me to get approval for more people to cover the service line when it’s not their job. When I get this approval, I then have people who aren’t trained to do this kind of work making mistakes or not being careful because they were forced to do something outside of their scope of employment like a SrRB or a cluster market leader/BL. I feel like if I ask for support again, my regional leader will suggest Truist branded Huggies and an IV drip in place of lunch breaks. They don’t care if someone has a heart attack or mental health breakdown. They simply care about CAC referrals, IRM, net new DDA, balances and lending. I swear I feel like I’m working at Wells Fargo again. This bank has lost its guiding principles and it’s because of our lack of leadership. Right sizing has brought IBS issues for many and it isn’t getting any better anytime soon.

Anyone else remember at the outset of the merger when the public statement was “no one in a client facing role would lose their job?” Lots of ways around that!

To first comment that says everyone should be consolidated at one large branch. They did that with us. Train wreck.

A couple of branches nearby were closing and we were told to be excited. We were inheriting most of the staffing and being turned into a “super branch”. The only exception was that we were expected to send help when needed. That was no biggie due to the increased staff.

Less than 1 month later; all the extra staff got forced to transfer to other areas or told they would have to go to contact center. They all quit. We are now a bare bones “universal branch” with increased goals.

Now keep in mind that was back when Truist was offering jobs when eliminating your position. They openly tell us that’s off the table now. You’re crazy to think if they close branches they are consolidating staff in this landscape

Maaaan you are naive to think they would close branches and consolidate the employees! If they close branches; those employees are being let go.

Ummm... kinda did boss? You said you only have 3 branches in your area that are understaffed... and 2 others said the opposite. If you don't take their word as factual; then how is your word factual? I guess it just doesn't fit your a** kissing agenda

Hate to tell you, but I’m in a branch myself. Facts hurt. Prove me wrong with facts. What I wrote is factual. Just doesn’t fit the constant whining agenda.

I agree with you @ybq+1tjPesIe. I think the other guy is a c suite clearly trolling and trying to make it sound better than it is. My group text chat is the same. Everyone going on leave for mental health to find another job, calling out sick or vacations. The branches are so thin that no one wants to work here long term and as soon as someone takes a day off that they earned, the entire location is in shambles not able to use restrooms or take breaks. Asking for help is sometimes humorous in the group chat because we all know that we are in the same boat.

You only have 3 understaffed branches? Our group text chat that the AL is a part of is going off from 4am-10pm with people needing staff

Stop with the “we need to join a union” cr-p. Truist doesn’t care. We have 3 branches in our area understaffed. They should consolidate everyone at the largest branch would could easily accommodate everyone and staffing shortages are fixed.
