Can I just say that with all the layoffs and the forced attrition, I’m still hatin on RTO. The push back is always that’s how we did it before Covid. Where else in the bank do we say “well, we found a better way to do things but let’s go back to the old way”? Looking for examples

We all would like to work from home, but alot of companies are going to the RTO option. But, as always, quitting is an option if you don't want to.
"And they are spending a ton of money remodeling the Jordan Creek campus in Des Moines… why?!" -@1mkm+1paMZXaS
Because..... they are selling all of their buildings except that one, and cramming all the employees that are left into that building.
Easy-Peasy
I never tell people where I work. I just say, "an evil bank" and most instantly assume WF. Whenever I'm talking with people about evil corporations out bad behavior, WF is the yardstick that other people use.
Charlie has done nothing to improve the bank's image, let alone the bank itself.
"I hate this company more every day for lying about my permanent remote position. I gleefully sh@t talk the firm at every opportunity to make sure nobody I meet considers doing business here."
This is the cost that the mo--ns in the ivory tower aren't thinking about. They rub their little hands together and laugh thinking about all the people that will quit, all the severance that they'll avoid paying, but there is a massive cost to the company and the culture of the workforce when you intentionally make them miserable. You want them to leave, but what if they stay and do exactly what is quoted above? It's devastating to the company's ability to do business when a growing % think like this, and forcing them into an office where the mindset is more readily transferred to others makes it even worse. Guess what Charlie, what's being said by the water cooler is not what you hoped. This company is doomed, and RTO is the root cause. WFH would make WF the best bank in the country as all the talent came out way. Instead we're flushing the entire business down the toilet.
FHY and F the bootlickers whose sickening and traitorous behavior won't save them from the axe no matter how much they grovel.

If I could upvote that last post 100 times, I would.
When will you get it? They want you to get worked up like this and quit. Seriously. What if everyone just stopped complaining about in office expectations? What would they do then. You are playing right into their plan. They love all this uproar. Power in silence, folks.
I work far more hours remote than I would in an office. It’s all about city real estate value and propping up cities. If we want to cut costs ditch our real estate footprint and stop building! Not to mention the fake caring of “going green”
On Iowa Press, West Des Moines, Iowa, mayor mentioned regularly checking with companies in West Des Moines to verify how many employees they have in the office. It would appear part of RTO strategy / 3 days per week (not all of it, for sure) is tied to incentives from cities. Makes me feel angry!
This is for all the people that think Charlie is responsible for RTO …this is across banking and other industries ….major reasons why? Money and attrition….Companies negotiate tax write-offs on offices based on the assumption that the employees filling them will support nearby businesses and pay state and local taxes. work-from-home means the offices are much emptier now, jeopardizing those deals. In addition attrition it at an all time low and the market su-ks….so enforcing RTO helps people to decide to quit ….it’s always about the almighty dollar not collaboration and what other garbage they try selling …I have no one in my department in my office they are all across the us and offshore
yawn
@xyq As a salaried employee, I'm supposed to be judged on the quality of work done, not how many hours I devote to it. It wasn't until this current management team arrived that hours spent in a WF-owned location became more important than quality work.
If you're so worried about my backside filling a seat in a WF-owned location for X hours a day, pay me for that rather than the amount of quality work I produce.
It’s not about walking the dog or picking up kids. I have neither. It’s about taking hours and money from my life for commuting, so I can sit in a veal pen with all kinds of distractions. To do the same exact work I do much more efficiently when remote. But hey, sc--w employees’ physical and mental health, right?! I hate this company more every day for lying about my permanent remote position. I gleefully sh@t talk the firm at every opportunity to make sure nobody I meet considers doing business here.
@xyq+1paMZXaS - ALL time in my life is my time. If I am meeting deadlines and deliverables, what do you care if I pick up my kid and work a little later, when needed?
Well I guess you’ll have to walk the dog and take the kids to soccer on your own time.
“well, we found a better way to do things but let’s go back to the old way”
We may not say it, but we do it every single time a leaders job is at stake.
