Burnout

Why even bother with layoffs when so many people are already leaving? Burnout is real. It's driving employees out the door, and they’re taking their skills and experience with them. But does Charlie and the rest of the leadership care? Not really. They seem unconcerned about losing valuable knowledge as long as they get to save money on severance. Instead of being worried, they see it as a win. Id--ts.

Pretty sure I've heard you in meetings propose some stupid new guy idea that everyone else in the room with that 'useless' experience knows won't work.

In any event, no one is replaceable, that's true. The billions of dollars we waste on all these admin buildings is also not replaceable.

I believe the leaders are more interested in keeping out of trouble and squeezing as much money out of the bank as possible to keep their net worth intact. They want the money to keep coming until they leave - not build a great and innovative company. I haven't seen any sign that they care about people or losing talent that benefits the bank. They have to sound like they care about everyone, but actions certainly speak louder.

The result of all of this is that the technology employed at Wells is 5-10 years behind, besieged by bugs. The technology debt of this company is huge.

Everyone is interchangeable. Your job could be mastered in 30 days or less by any one of hundreds of applicants.
Nobody cares if you have years of experience.
That just means you’re in a rut and like it there.
If you don’t want the job badly enough to actually come to work, somebody. else does.
The pandemic is over.

The Hudson Yards the ONLY knowledge that they find valuable is the knowledge of living in I&P and working cheap. They never have, and never will, care about the skills/knowledge of domestic workers. All they see is the cost. Ironically, they insist on the most expensive possible option for employing people in the US (RTO, hub cities). Probably just to justify their future layoff.
