If you work in banking, I'd recommend exiting the industry as soon as you can.
The economy, inflation, and geopolitical environment is not going to be better anytime in future, and banks will continue to squeeze costs and reduce staff. Don't put your future in their hands, take control of your life and career and do something else. Don't work for an old, worn out dinosaur. It's a road to nowhere!
What really disgusts me is after you leave WF (voluntary or involuntary), you'll get asked "why did you leave WF?" I find that to be one of the few most insulting questions anyone could ever ask me, especially after working there through the publicized scandals, congressional hearings (2016), gazillions in fines, watching executives who should have stopped it get to retire instead of escorted out, etc. All things that were nothing to do with my skills or behavior. They are lucky they ask me it on the phone and not in person.
I am employed and not leveraged so I don't have to put up with the BS I did 10 years ago, but when company dares and asks me that question why I left WF, I hang up the phone. Be prepared for life after WF, because you won't always be treated with dignity and respect. You don't owe anyone an explanation, absolutely nobody, for your life's decisions. Remember that. There is so much arrogance and ego of people in HR and corporate America that think they are owed explanations for how you run your life or who you associate(d) with or why you chose to leave some employer you worked your azz of at for years. They think they are owed something, they're not. And especially not some corporate a$$hole.
Would you go to a domestic violence shelter and question people living there why they want to leave their significant other or why they left, no you wouldn't because it would be insulting and pizz them off, right. You'd probably get told to leave. Plus, everyone has to sign an OL that states your employment is at will and you can be terminated without reason or cause, so if they don't have to provide reason, neither do I when I quit (or you get laid off)! Many of you get to wake up everyday worrying if you're have a job in a month due to the culture of layoffs and wanting people to voluntarily quit, so when you finally get out of it you're emotionally drained and exhausted and the last thing you want to talk about is that place. It's none of their god damned business. Corporate America is such a joke anymore, and the regional and big banks are the worst at basic respect, dignity and decency. I have worked with many different industries and businesses, and banks are by far the worst, they're just d!ckbags. Learn to respect yourself and be careful of how you let or allow people to treat you. Draw a line in the sand and be strong.
