Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Some Of You Will Be Laid Off Next Week. It’s a Gift You Should Accept

From one laid off Oracle employee (August 2022) to a future class, advance congratulations.

There is a better world out there and you will find it. Enjoy the severance package, know that it was inevitable, and like many before, come back and warn the others on this board what it’s like to work at Oracle.

It’s a rite of passage. Godspeed.

Oh suuure, losing your job is a "gift".

No it's not, it's Oracle dumping you to the curb like it's been doing to thousands for many years. And right now is NOT a good time to be without a job.

That's not nice. This person is offering you an opportunity to see the light, and this is your response?

I've decided to just sit tight for now and see what the future brings.

I was RIF’d in April and I’m increasingly unconcerned about returning.

Are you saying this is actually still an open question?

Since when does oracle lay off the last week of the month with no chance to find a new position. That’s not normal. It’s usually beginning and middle of month.

I was RIF’d in April and I’m increasingly unconcerned about returning. They’ve lost all my decades of experience and ability to drive revenue. I still have it. They’re not getting it back.

My next chapter will be my own thing. No more putting my livelihood at risk with some HR spreadsheet jockey looking to cut costs.

If you get cut, put your skills and experience to work for you. If you’re good enough to succeed at Oracle, you’re good enough to cut your own path.

Stay strong my friends.

I keep hearing about hiring freezes but my team has been recruiting at the same time as laying people off. Where are people hearing that there won't be layoffs?

There might be layoffs later, at the moment they are looking at natural attrition but tried to hoard labour because they are afraid of not being able to rehire quickly enough if there is only a slight recession. If there is a deeper recession they will probably layoff - maybe in a few months.

“ Hearing no layoffs happening because so many have left already and hiring freezes.” also hearing the same, along with focal is happening over the coming months.

Sorry that you went through this though original OP
