I have been here for long enough to remember the times when things were different. Now the only way to survive at this company is to only look at your own interest at the expense of putting down your coworker.
That is a sad fact by itself, but what bugs me even more is that we have embraced that culture as something that is normal and nobody even talks about that on employee level as something that is wrong and something that shouldn’t be that way.
I’m not saying that employees could have changed anything, but we could at least try to hold on to our common decency and help our coworker while in need, instead of looking at that situation as an opportunity to put him/her down.

Agree. It’s like executive leadership enjoys having different priorities and letting the actual workers battle it out
I agree!! Employees fight with each other all day long about non sense. I’ve never worked in such a toxic culture. Management seems to love the discord and “in fighting”. I’m so sad that I work for this beast of a company.
Management willfuly holding back associates that are more capable and able, and at review time further damaging their careers by giving mediocre reviews that make you look no better than the dead weight on your team. If you try to excel (rock the boat) you are punished. Promotions are reserved for those that you feel will help you in the future.
Absolutely not! But maybe if hBBT employees realized this was not their normal take over and it is now a new environment!
"One thing I have noticed, the employees who choose to stay have become unemotional and almost brain-dead, not the same people they were before, just sad the outcome."
It's burnout and may be a trauma response.

For myself, “It was always, We’re the best bank in town, once this toxic culture started developing I became so wrapped up in it all until I eventually hit a wall. I was a mess I knew I couldn’t do it anymore: I quit, the best thing I ever did!"

Welcome to Corporate America! It's always been like that. But I'm happy for you that, at least for a while, you were in a nice safe happy little bubble. But all bubbles have to burst sometime.
