Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Those laid off, what was the process?

Not trying to be insensitive just curious the process.

Did you get a meeting request, or did boss just skype/zoom call adhoc?

What instructions were you given?

Did you sign severance package? Did you try negotiate package?

Did they explain why they taking action?

Did your boss act suprised? Was he genuinely concerned?

How long did you have to return equipment/clean out desk?

Were you able to send goodbye email to collegues and peers?

Was security called to escort you out?

Did you ask for a letter of reference from boss on company letterhead? Did boss agree?

Your grammar is horrendous. Ping me if you would like to limit that issue to your posts, not your resumé.

Side note to @xhl+1agpTh3e: Make sure to check your state laws on unemployment - most states do not allow you to "double-dip" – you cannot collect unemployment benefits until your severance runs out.

Let’s see. They are laying off thousands here and hiring thousands for that new building they have in India. What else do you need to know?

@1nvx. You are either a management person with an agenda who is lying through their teeth or you are very fortunate. This is happening across the company, especially in technology. It has been for some time.

We laid off 30% of our offshore consultants and haven't let any onshore FTE's go. Consultants always go first. Where are you getting your information from?

You get fired. Your job is gone. What else is there to know?

And don’t say a layoff is not a firing. Just cause you call it something different does not change the facts. They are firing Americans and hiring offshore. Facts are interesting things.

You don’t get to negotiate the layoff package. It’s a take it or leave it. My manager didn’t have a meeting set up just called soon as I logged in.

Was told at the end of the day to come in early. Told I was displaced, given a box to pack my things and was gone before any of the team arrived. Was told I'd be mailed my severance agreement.

TIP: Raise your hand = lose your job!

Negotiate the package, lol. WF would love it if you didn't sign. No severance cost then. There's no "Right to Severance", if you don't agree you basically just resign and walk away with zero.

The answer to almost every question is "depends on the circumstances". Displacement isn't an entirely standardized process, nor should it be.

I would not be proud of being layed off many times then returning here; if i ever get layed off somewhere i will go work elsewhre. Who wants to work for a mismanaged failing company?

I've been laid off from here multi times.
In some cases they will call you out of the blue and tell you.
In other cases they will have a meeting setup, and then ask you go into a room with them and their boss and give you the docs. They say read over it and send it back by X days if you want severance.
Try and negotiate a package??? Yeah good luck with that one, there's no negotiations, its not a used car lot.
You keep working for 1-60 days, basically hand it off, the quicker you do it the faster you can say bye bye.
Your notice period is like 2 months + say 2-6 months severance. All those 2-6 months you also get to also collect unemployment, you make more than you normally would, its not bad. Every time I was let go here I was unhappy in the role and getting the package it was like God himself saved me.
