as a long-term employee, I have seen many different versions of our human resources department. However the rumors and announcements surrounding layoffs are not even being addressed. I as well as others have had water cooler talk and the consensus is that we are completely being gaslit by the company and have no idea what’s going on. My normal HR contact disappeared and there was no announcement about who would be supporting my area and I moving forward. Whenever I need absolutely anything from human resources people are either brand new to their role, a contractor that is a one show pony, or being blocked from helping me because of the stupid ticketing system that doesn’t even work. We have had openings in my department for longer than one year and never get updates and the work continues to pile up and boil over. People are being sloppy because they are burned out. We need help!

@xh I know for a fact that he’s reading this. 👋 🤡
@rz Literally! Those curated learning plans were presented like they were a groundbreaking discovery and then SF flopped on the whole project. Do we even still have a training department? I haven’t seen much of any of those guys in forever. What do they actually do?
I mean the clue is in the name. We are “human resources” to the company. Why would the company fund a department to have anyone but its own best interests in mind? They support employees nominally, and even then only as an attempt to squeeze more out of a “resource”.
Where are the curated individual career paths we were promised 3 years ago? Where’s the new talent review process that’s been baking for 2 years? Where’s the systematic approach succession planning we’ve been begging them for, for as long as I can remember?
@OP You ever work at a job where HR felt more like a shield for the company than support for the employees 🤷♀️🤷♂️
@OP You've watched HR for this long, though have no idea how HR works? Watching Cocomelon might be more up your alley.
Silly goose @OP, HR is not here to help employees. It is here to help protect the company from lawsuits by employees.
@OP Well said!
Business makes the decision to have a reduction in force not HR. HR handles the process. Talk to your leaders and see if they can provide insight.
