Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Union Sloths

Are out there trying to equalize any negative commentary.
Just one question: WHY would/does a union withhold pertinent contract information that negatively affects the same personnel they claim to be fighting for? This is what all the less tenured members are asking u die hard union folk now... you have let the union run amuck, sell you on a small incentive while throttling down 2 others? And then want to blame it on whiny b***hes for calling out the watered down benefits that are nowhere near what the original union contract started with...

Been there and done that my friend, just have not had the chance to since transformation began 15yrs ago. Look, I understand there is a give and take when it comes to contract negotiations however, we can also see what our own eyes, and budgets, have been showing for many contracts! Not asking for everything, just maybe a few wins beside a less than col pay increase. Oh, U have confused myself with someone else posting here though, once again laying claim to most of the facts being presented about union of New, versus old is all. Thanks, have a great day!!

"Sloths, many grandfathered to OLD pension, 401k matches and seniority recieve the value you hold dear from union representation"
As a newer tech you dont think youre receiving any value from the union representation before you were hired? Things like vacation, benefits, sick time, pay, capped mandatory overtime, short and long term disability, time and title, overtime pay, seniority...the list goes on. The reason everyone hates new employees is because they walk in the door thinking theyre entitled to everything someone with 30 years has worked for. Then act like 7 year olds when they dont get it.

Who cares if a vendor cant do their job. Theyre non union and dont work for lumen. Your job is to demarc it, bill them and move along to the next job. The union leadership has nothing to do with your scenario.

And have you taken your hat off to see the whole picture, not half? You open with calling older members sloths and blaming them for what you dont have. Yet you yourself probably voted yes on the last contract. How about you vote no. Vote to strike. Demand you get a better pension? Go without a paycheck for a few weeks. Willing to do that? We did. I guarantee your fellow techs with the same time as you wont follow along.

Your ever taken a math class? Dunno how you do things but my pay went up about 260 ish a month and my healthcare about 12 bucks a month. I’m just a d-mb tech but I think I came out ahead. Thanks for the congratulations.

The union is as strong as you make it. It’s not easy drawing a line in the sand against an aggressive anti union company. You underestimate what older union members went through to get what they have today. In my rca all of the stewards have 5 years or less. They all fall in line with company words. How great the contract will be. It’s the best we can get. We can’t strike because we will all get fired. And everyone falls in line out of fear. I had 2 years on the job when we went on strike. Didn’t want to but we did. I’ve never regretted it. We earned what we get now. Think about that for your future when you’re outvoting anyone who’s been here and knows better.

So you’re an in house scab. You’re opinion means nothing and you get whatever is given to you and you’ll like it.

So the main issue is jealousy of what older members have. So you were either hired in the prism bo-m because you worked for a tv company and could plug in a set top box or you’re a prem tech. You and your fellow newer employees voted yes for the last 3 contracts. You gave up bargaining for healthcare. No one other than a new higher voted yes for that. Now you have sc--wed everyone over. You trusted the company wouldn’t F over employees with the lie healthcare would be cheaper. Look in the mirror kid, the union is you now. When I look around my crew room I see 5 no votes and 18 yes votes. Five 25 year plus techs and 18 with 7 years or less. Grow a pair of ba--s and vote no. Vote to strike. Don’t be a scab. Or, just be a bi--h and blame someone else.

Not crying, just literal facts. Your post only reiterates the issues NEW members see. Sloths, many grandfathered to OLD pension, 401k matches and seniority recieve the value you hold dear from union representation... none of which is close to the New member package of today! Maybe it can be right both ways, sometimes just need to take your hat off to see the full picture, not half, that's all!

Okay Frank, please make sure your inflated union leadership knows the union code as well... seems they have forgotten themselves. Especially when I am out here doing a vendor meet with contractors that are asking me to train them; or the h1b humans I get to TRY and communicate with as my EXPERT on the other side... lets go Union brothers!

Don't have to, the company is already been there and doing that. Oh, I have given up, and on, the union 2 contracts ago... still here slothing through the same benefits you have, with my own strike fund built from the union dues I would have been paying. Speaking of which, the union representation seems to be down approx 80%, just over the last 10 years, so there is that... great job!!

Get all your less tenured colleagues to vote no. The same as all the sloths did when we went on strike for 3 weeks. You really think anyone is outvoting the newer members? Look around the room when you want to cry about something. Half the newer employees say they will cross a picket line anyway.
