At the moment, I am not in a hub. I was assigned to Dallas, chosen RTO, and am scheduled to be in the office on January 1st. Instead of three times each week, I intend to commute maybe once every month or two. Manager located in Atlanta. I've heard that 30% of employees do not follow RTO requirements. I intend to ride this until RTO is gone. They cannot lay off 30% of the workers. Take this into consideration before making your decision, Wave II.

“ They can't selectively enforce a policy. That's how lawsuits are created.
They either have to terminate everyone not in compliance or none.”
Not true. There’s a middle ground which could be consistently applied. For example. They could say everyone who has only been to the office one day a week or less, your fired. Those who only go two days a week get warned.
“ They can't selectively enforce a policy. That's how lawsuits are created.

All they have to do is say they are working their way through the violation list. They don’t have to fire everyone in violation the same day and those fired are not entitled to a list of those in violation. You have no idea if you are 1 of 1 or 1 of 1000.
I remember this one time at band camp.
Many managers to be fired soon. Also level 1 folks to be reassigned to RTO if managing outside craft. More to get rid of and save the company money for debts. Leave now please.
“ you do what your boss says or you go somewhere else”
This guy is a true comedian. I hope people do show up to collaborate in person and tell their bosses that they don’t have a clue how to lead and the bosses go cry in the parking lot.
#1 there are tax laws. You would be fired if you’re reporting false information. You may want to rethink your strategy. Individuals may be fined up to $100,000 for filing a false return in addition to being sentenced to prison for up to three years. Not worth it
"They can't selectively enforce a policy. That's how lawsuits are created.
They either have to terminate everyone not in compliance or none."
Are you sure about that? Is there a law telling companies how they have to enforce their policies equitably?
No way Jose. Debbie don't do Dallas. I'm walking.
So essentially you are choosing to be fired by not following requirements. Good luck.
“same situation here. my commute to the office is 2 hours. my boss is in a different state and so is my entire team.”
You are forgetting your local team that has always been there. You need to start collaborating with your onsite team members.
Folks, it is so easy to see how many associates are at the office. Security only needs to check the network and see if you logged in local or remote. Be careful….
Like “Juan Skunkey”, (jack)Legg demonstrates strong traits of the aforementioned”Dark Triad”.
Jeremy Legg is a fricken LIAR!
It's hard to believe anyone can even listen to anything he has to say. No wonder Stankey has such a high opinion of him.
They can't selectively enforce a policy. That's how lawsuits are created.
They either have to terminate everyone not in compliance or none.
“Arguable if they can lay off 30% at once.”
Nothing to argue. Within one month no one will even remember the missing 30%. No impact.
They terminate the worst offender and everyone else falls in line.
Arguable if they can lay off 30% at once. They could chip away at that 30% a little bit at a time. It could be you put a target on yourself. The ability is easily there to tell if you connect to a certain office network and for how long. Amazing to read the comments from people who don't believe it's possible.
OP here. My point is that lots of employees do not follow RTO. If they terminate one person, they must do so for everyone. They can't accomplish it with 30% of the labor. This will all be forgotten before we get there.
"They cannot lay off 30% of the workers. "
Wanna bet? Nothing would make them happier. Running the business comes second compared to making Wall Street numbers look good, by any means necessary.
Legg lies more than any of them.
In his March or so town hall he flat out said that nobody would lose their jobs by being in the wrong location. Claimed when someone retired, that's when the job would move to a hub.
In June or so, he not only said people would have to move to hubs or lose their jobs, but had fewer hubs than the corporate list.
Then in his latest videos, he said that the list of hubs not under in his division wouldn't be greater but only 2... atlanta and dallas.
So don't believe anything that comes out of his mouth. It will change from day to day.
Legg claimed in his latest videos that only 50% of wave 1 people accepted relocation to a hub by Jan 2023. My guess is that it will end up being even less when you consider that severance might not be worth the extra days on payroll until then for many who claimed they were going to report.
I know someone who was hired virtually a little over a year ago and was told to report to a hub. Do the simple math, 1 year is 2 weeks severance vs collecting a paycheck for potentially several months while giving time to find a new job while on the clock. Easy decision to say yes and then give a finger to the severance.
You agreed to RTO.
You lied.
You will be terminated for cause.
same situation here. my commute to the office is 2 hours. my boss is in a different state and so is my entire team. i’ll go in 1-2 times a month until they lay me off I guess…
Until you get fired, more likely. The time to be laid off with severance is when you asked to RTO. If you commit to it and don't do it, they'll let you go, sure, but don't count on that severance, and in many states', unemployment.
From the comments, it looks there are at least 30% of slackers here. I say get rid of the dead weight. That will save T at least 30% in payroll costs. Maybe even more depending on how long the slackers have been here. Let’s move forward and return AT&T to the model company it once was.
They are laying off at least 30% and you will likely be forest for cobc violations meaning no severance, better off stating you are not RTO and getting laid off with a severance unless you've only been employed for a few years
T can no longer afford your entitltlesmeny. It’s time for you to go.
"Half true. If you “chip in” at an office that is not your webphone location you will show that you entered a building that has a not your location. The metric shows it as “remote”."
This is normal for a good number of field managers with occupational folks in multiple reporting locations. They aren't expected to go the home location simply to swipe the door before heading to the day's work location.
@wxz+1oMvDgb0 , you do what your boss says or you go somewhere else. AT&T is not your parents basement. But then again If you don’t like the rules leave. I am tired of hearing from cry babies that live in fear of their own shadow. Open the curtains and front door and get back in the office! That is the only way to move the company and economy forward.
@wxz+1oMvDgb0
you have a pretty cr-ppy attitude... who kicked your dog??
this isnt how a leader leads.... show some empathy and understand your employees frustration and entertain the conversation. thats the bare minimum expectation of a good leader.
GTFOH!
“I was told with the present tracking they can only tell if you chipped a door but can’t tell if it’s the correct location. I’d go to a local office for three days a week and see how long it takes them to notice.“
Half true. If you “chip in” at an office that is not your webphone location you will show that you entered a building that has a not your location. The metric shows it as “remote”.
As a Manager I don’t care what you want. Put on your clothes and get to the office. If you refuse to come in to work, I will terminate your employment for cause. It is not the company’s problem that you chose to live a long commute from the office. It is not the company’s problem if you prefer to work remote. If you want to work from home, get another job. We do not need you.
Thank you for saving T from paying out a severance! #DallasBound
I was told with the present tracking they can only tell if you chipped a door but can’t tell if it’s the correct location. I’d go to a local office for three days a week and see how long it takes them to notice.
I disagree. I think they’d love to lay-off 30% of the workforce. That’s what it’s about. Time will tell.
Currently only 61% are compliant.
Get to work. No one cares how far you drive. You should have been responsible and bought a living unit nearer the company. No one owns any of you a damn thing.
so they (don’t) have the appearance of conducting “formal” layoffs, but the same goal (reduction in headcount) is achieved!
You need to stop drinking the kool-aid!
This has nothing to do with collaboration.
It has everything to do with company downsizing, so they have the appearance of conducting “formal” layoffs, but the same goal (reduction in headcount) is achieved!
AT&T is in debt, due to BAD C-Suite decisions!
Stankey would absolutely love to dump 30 - 40% of workforce overnight. It's the only way he can keep the lights on. AT&T = Chapter 11
