Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Why morale is low

Morale is low because we see co workers getting layoffs every month
Morale is low because we we are now asked to do the job of 2 people. Again due to layoff.

Morale is low and we feel isolated because we now spend 2 hours extra a day traveling to workplace, so we can put on headphones to speak with other on Team. We get look if we speak too loud, we get annoyed having to listen to everyone conversation

Solution? More time in office!!!!uggggggggggh

I feel sick

Exactly what @ac+1k1xq3vw8 said.

@11h I wasn’t clear. I meant the published plan is the normal severance pdf in Alight. I know of no separate VSP plan. I think companies give a little more than normal plan to encourage volunteers. It is a good risk remediation. People who’ve been there know where the bodies are buried. I’m out the second it is offered.

@wx what is "published plan" when it comes to VSP? Wouldn't it be similar to severance ?

I have a friend who was offered a VSP type situation in a large company, it sounds like it's just reducing his hours to part-time but he continues to earn his salary for the rest of the year. Then effective February 2045 he will be officially done. But there is no severance payment, essentially he just works at a bare minimum in case some emergency comes up from now until February.

The only appeal versus a traditional seversnce I could see versus this as if you have very few years with the company. Of course nothing is guaranteed when it comes to someone so maybe that's why people take it.

Buyouts also reduce risk to the bank. Severance terms include “no sue” and no badmouthing. Likely there would be tax write off for layoff. If q3 results are looking bad, may as well take the write off in q3 as well. I’d also take the buyout the second I got it.

"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."

@ed Exactly! Leadership needs a lot of ba--s to offer VSP. Our "leaders" like Gumjob, Elzero, Tulip do not.

I would jump at VSP if modestly better terms than published plan. I’m sure there are hundreds that would also.

@rk Voluntary Separation Package. It means offering to pay people to voluntarily quit.

WTF is a VSP?

Morale is low because they are not offering VSPs. If they offered VSPs, people would be excited and happy and morale will rise.

@aw

Given her comment that "if anything, management is looking at more time in office, not less" it's entirely reasonable to distrust the bank's assurances of the stability of the current arrangement.

And given they violated their agreement with those of us hired into full remote positions, not covid-hybrid positions, there's even less trust, and that's perfectly reasonable.

I don't think she made any new comments. Instead, it feels like the 23 people on this message board are stuck on the same theme, like Bill Murray in the Movie Groundhog Day, except you are have stopped being interesting. New day, same tired comments.

Any new pet rocks?
