Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Sometimes, enough really is enough

I am so tired of the stress that comes with working for this company. The amount of work I have to do is ridiculous and I'm starting to wonder if any of it is worth it. I have been at this job for over 6 years and I'm ready for something new. Working long hours and weekends is draining me physically and mentally. It has gotten to the point where I am in a constant state of stress because there's never enough time in the day to get everything done. I've decided to leave before I have a mental breakdown, which is inevitable if I remain.

I worked at Fiserv in a technical leadership role for over a decade with many phases where it felt like too much, with regular 50-60 hour work weeks for several months at a time when important projects were in process. During the most recent difficult project (difficult from a personnel and time management perspective, not technically) it must have become clear that it wasn't possible to handle the workload with back-to-back meetings all day. My manager graciously offered to let me move down to an individual contributor role instead of a leader without a pay cut or change in title. I jumped at the chance and was able to renew my job satisfaction for several years before the recent "divestiture". I loved working for Fiserv in the Yabuki years, and watching my discounted stock triple in value. It's a different company now - I'm happy to have moved on and wish better luck for the remaining employees.

"OP is a whiner and cannot handle accountability. You are not a good fit for Fiserv, go somewhere else."

And upper management wonders why people are leaving in droves. Lol.

Congrats on starting the New Year as not only a corporate stooge, but a douchebag to boot. Real strong "fiserv" start to 2023 for you!

If Fiserv had any sort of “good accountability”, Frank and the entire MC would be gone.

First, set boundaries for your remaining time. I watched a family member go through what you describe because they couldn't set boundaries and it burned them out and put immense strain on their personal life, don't let that happen to you. Good news is they got out and went to a company with a completely opposite environment, there is hope. But don't allow them to strain your health. Start saying no to things outside a "normal" window.

Six years is a good amount of time at a company to find new job that includes a raise and a promotion.

Good luck with your search.

Time to dial back to a reasonable amount of time - use the hours you normally would work overtime into finding another job. A company & a boss that is ok with working you so many hours is not a good company... time to move on
