Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Are all DBAs untouchables?

Just the laziest, angriest, spiteful, individuals. You can’t be called incompetent if you reject all change requests. Just watch your CHG rot as it floats down the Ganges

Though unlikely to go completely extinct, DBA is largely an outdated role.

Database Administrators?

They were bent over hard a few months back. 70+ chopped in one day.

The long time toxic culture of WF created by mgmt has continued to force fellow workers to get frustrated with each other. It's important we don't turn on each other, there is another way.

My coping mechanism is to allow things to take longer to get done, to swim with the current, not against it. When I submit a CHG and it fails to get approvals for one reason or another, the stress of that experience on me is a tax on WF as lost productivity. I will add another tax for my well being by stepping back and reviewing the CHG in a few days (let the dust settle). Since WF doesn't incentivize hard work and track CHG success rates, I have to protect myself and do what I can to make it through each day.

Historically I've always given 100%, be the ideal employee and show that I can accomplish things despite workplace drama or missing details/data. What I found, based on performance reviews, years and years of no promotions/pay and subpar co-workers equal success, is that I am covering up the reality of a larger problem at the bank. The total compensation package doesn't offer enough to take on the stress of trying to be your very best at WF.

A lot of us follow something similar whether we want to admit it or not. After all, not a single one of us feels like WF cares about us or shows us what our contributions mean to the bottom line.

Hugs around.
