Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

100k fees for H1Bs

Ok so if this comes in I see it will be the end to H1Bs for Oracle. May be this explains part of the rif with advance heads up from LEs pals in the WH. It’s just a poison pill costing business valuable talent.

OK data boy - Oracle is #12 out of 100, so 88 percentile of H1B visa users PER YEAR at about 2K THIS YEAR. That report is annual. 20 years of visas at about 2K a year is 40 thousand foreigners out of a total of only 80 thousand US employees -- so yeah, by your own data half of every US employee in Oracle is/was H1B. My entire group of 150+ OCI engineers is Indian, as am I (but I'm US born). That's just the facts, ma'am, not "racism".

This is an Oracle MB isn't it? Look at that link and tell me where Oracle ranks wrt H1B visas. Except you won't and will only make false claims about something that's a non-issue here. FO

@v5 even one is too many. Only corporate sc-m tries to poses h1b as cultural issue with bigots and racist, it's pure economics.

millions of current H1B jobs are safe and replacing Americans

Racist BS

This thread has so many lies about H1Bs that it's ridiculous. Probably bot/ai propaganda.

check your sources m*rons. Oracle hardly registers compared to other tech companies, and the numbers at the bigger companies are microscopic compared to what you are claiming. E.g.,

@n9 => H-4 visa holders can apply for an EAD, which allows them to work in the United States without being restricted to a single employer

Bottom line: millions of current H1B jobs are safe and replacing Americans; this is just a marketing move from current administration

Even if the fee amounts to nothing, just like the tariffs, the UNCERTAINTY is the upside here. How many people will risk it to move to the US given the volatility and uncertainty this proclamation causes?

Would you risk having to pull your children out of school, sell your house, and quickly have your move back to your home country given this craziness?

What Trump says is cr-p. He lies continuously. Guaranteed he’s floating the idea to get paid off by corporations that will pay for special treatment or to get him to back down. Trump is a grifter, nothing more. He’s using the racists to his own advantage. Lying to them and stringing them along while he takes in the cash for his own personal profit. You guys have been had.

L-1B is where all the rort is, not H1-B.

L-1B is intracompany transfer and it's literally unlimited, company can bring anyone who worked just a year in foreign office. However L1-B is not-immigrant visa that does not allow apply for green card and thus was not very popular. With new limitations on H1-B expect many more brought to USA on L-1B.

People should look at what Trump is actually saying. LOT of misinformation out there. https://www.msn.com/en-in/money/topstories/white-house-clarifies-100000-fee-does-not-apply-to-current-h1b-visa-holders-or-renewals-safe-to-travel-also-its-not-annual-fee/ar-AA1MYqS3?ocid=BingNewsVerp

In other words, if you have an H1B visa, you are not affected by this. It's ONLY new applications and it's NOT a yearly fee.

And everyone please cut the racist cr*p. It's so ugly.

Nothing against H-1Bs; however, Trump is right on this point. Tech companies use H-1Bs as cheap and convenient labor. Hundreds of thousands of American citizens with computer science degrees from American universities are unemployed while tech companies and CEOs get rich by using H-1Bs for ordinary IT work. It's not that they are cheap; their biggest advantage is that they are more compliant and won't leave because their visa is tied to the company. The company knows this, too. These are good people, but they aren't the geniuses that tech companies claim they are. The H-1B visa was introduced in 1952 and modified in 1990. The first time the cap was reached was in 1997 when the tech industry found its "golden goose." Since then, they've used this cheap labor route to fill positions every year. Maybe a handful of these people have exceptional abilities. Larry Ellison would gladly pay them a high salary + a $100K fee. The rest, while I have nothing against them, are taking jobs away from American citizens.

The fee for H-1B visa applications should be $1 million per year, not $100,000. We are looking for the next Elon! ✈🛩🛫🛬💻🖥🗼👮👮‍♂👮‍♀🚓🚔🚨 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

H1B and valuable business talent are not compatible. H1Bs are only about money, pure and simple.
