Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

online banking correspondence jobs going to india

Have a friend who works in the online banking correspondence department at Wells Fargo, she was told two weeks ago their jobs were going away in July. As India does some of this type of work already she assumed the work is going to done in India although management would not elaborate or confirm. After the announcement the division manager left Wells Fargo to pursue other opportunities. She told me the sites affected were Charlotte, Columbia, and Salt Lake.

I don’t have a lot of faith in the inside scoop of anyone who actually says “calm your ti-s”. And if you are in one of our online banking correspondence jobs, that is equally disturbing.

A post from Hyderabad India must be confirmation of what has happened.

wow! i can not understand anything they say when i call; can someone get an Alexa Translator on the 800#? Maybe easier to understand but then have to deal with getting it to understand me!

A LOSE - LOSE SITUATION!

If you think the companies in India do not sell your information to make a buck, you are incredibly naive. This is a big risk to you, your information, and ultimately the company that outsourced this work, but they still do it anyway because it’s cheap.

Besides, the folks in India are not subject to US laws, so basically they don’t care anyway.

The call centers generally will be staffed with US workers although Wells Fargo has one in the Philippines. As for personal information if you have made any online requests for statements or other information it is most likely processed in India. They have ability to view all your personal information such as social security number , account information, or birthdate etc as they are on the same computer systems as representatives in the United States. Whenever you see companies offshoring jobs it means upper management is incompetent as they have to make up for their management blunders by finding cheap labor. No telling how much money Wells Fargo lost in their Credit Suisse adventure.

No they won’t. Americans talk a good game but their actions say otherwise. That’s why Walmart and the Bank Of America’s are running strong.

I have bank accounts at Ally and Discover, and credit cards from BAC, Chase, and Citi. When I call, for whatever reason, I always get an American and that’s how I want it.

I’m ok talking to overseas call centers for other services, but when it comes to giving people my sensitive financial information - I feel better talking to someone from my own country who is operating under US laws and standards.

I know this is not politically correct, but I think there are many people who feel the same way. If WFC starts forcing their customers to overseas call centers, people will happily take their business down the street.
