Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

59 PL here....Cheers to you.

59 PL here, that has NOT been in any of the meetings...

On the eve of the eve at the end of all this, it is what it is and I truly believe that those who are let go, myself more than likely included, will ALL land well upon their feet doing something cool. I would encourage you to step out and see what it is like to not be subjected to the corporate world and at their mercies, as we have witnessed the past few months.

I KNOW the people I have worked with over the past few years at Schwab are more than capable of starting their own business, trying a new path out and heck even some of you retiring early and giving back to your communities on a regular basis.

So many of you are incredible servant leaders and have an amazing opportunity to be a more awesome version of you after all this. DO NOT let this small day in the bigger picture of your life define you. Let go of the bad mojo that has taken over your heart and focus on the good stuff to come.

Will it be stressful?...probably but you are a capable adult, (most of you HA) with a solid skillset that can be leveraged in other companies, and even YOUR OWN!

As much I hate to say it...but Own Your Tomorrow....yeah its a Schwab slogan, but remember...its YOURS, not theirs.

@1pkw+1pjAxRbh wrong again. I didn’t even put up a fight about RTO but mostly because I know I won’t need to. I don’t have performance issues and get my work done. I don’t do my side business during office hours. When there is a will there’s a way. I simply prepared myself for this exact situation. Good luck to you though.

@1pkw+1pjAxRbh I can't speak for the person with a side business (as I do not have one), but I btch and moan about RTO because I've always hated the office (mostly the small talk and desk drive bys) and preferred to WFH when I got the chance. I just went into the office before because I had to. After not having to for a few years, going back feels bad. I'll live but won't feign contentedness.

@swp+1pjAxRbh Yes I reported my business. I pity you that you think people can’t have an outside business and better their lives. There is more to life than working 40 hours for 40 years.

I also suspect these are the same people who btch moan and complain about RTO because they cannot run their shtty "businesses" from CS offices. just saying

I am the guy who simply asked @uat+1pjAxRbh if he reported his business to the Compliance department and now I see my post being down-voted into oblivion. Same question for the OP.

I find it interesting that some of you complain about CS' leadership dishonesty and how much they hurt you but you don't have a problem with yourselves directly violating your own employment contract by not reporting your side gigs and "businesses" to your bosses and the Compliance dept. Moreover, you show up here bragging and recommending others do the same, because "CS is evil". A lot of fake bravado if you ask me

Not having the invite on the calendar (if that’s what you are saying) could indicate they declined the weekend sessions as they attended the weekday one.

59 here. Not invited, my boss not invited, his boss not invited, but his boss is. Unless my bosses boss’ is untouched, looking likely he’s out, and potentially my boss as well.

I’m expecting carnage come Monday/Tuesday

59 here whose boss is also not invited to the “meetings” either. But my skip-level boss is. So either I’m gone or my boss is gone. Less likely that they’ll get rid of both of us. Unfortunately this situation has made me snippy.

I’ve kind of surrendered. I’ll prolly go to Michael’s, start a new hobby 🤷🏻‍♂️ and once I’ve kind of cooled down then bounce back.

@swp+1pjAxRbh They got a side hustle because EC didn’t keep up their end of the bargain and kept on threatening us with layoffs. Give them a break plz.

60 PL who also has not been in any of the meetings. Whose boss is also not in the weekend HR meetings either. Gonna be a tough Monday for all. Best wishes to all.

Love this! I am one that will be leaving with my fellow laid off colleagues with or without a package.

Just shy of a year ago I ventured into starting my own business and for this reason l will be able to say farewell to the 9-5. It feels so damn good.

This company pushed me outside of my comfort zone so I said heck why not do the same for me.

I started working on my own business plan and goals. And soon I will say good bye!

Take care my friend. At the end of the day it is just a job. There are other ones and family and friends matter the most.
