Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

RTO policy change soon?

When do you think EH will change the RTO policy to be more flexible so those of us who want to work remote can?

@7xyu+1vhQdVG7 You are wrong pal. I heard alot of rumors circulating that everyone can be flexible and work either WFH or In office as they choose.

no offense, but we are lucky if we do not have another layoff coming soon.... RTO is not going to change. Again, no offense, but this is out of current reality

Funny enough, my manager doesn't care whether I work from home or office. So I'm just fully remote. Guess it su-ks to be you guys. :)

Just work at CIS they haven't had to care in a long time about RTO since they are full time WFH with no end in sight.

I wouldn’t hold your breath. Nike is not doing well and has always been an in-person culture. EH came up through the ranks and PK believes that employees should be in the office.

My guess is that Friday will remain WFH but most employees will be expected to be in the office Monday through Thursday. There might be some exceptions for certain jobs/functions.

Just my educated guess.

If enough people complain, they will change it so keep at it :)

If you've been paying any sort of attention to the trends in US corporate culture the last year, it's obvious executives and managers mostly dislike WFH. Workplaces and workplace policies are typically not structured to make employees happy. It's about control and perception of productivity (emphasis on perception). The white collar job market is mostly a nightmare right now (some exceptions of course), so companies are using this period of increased power to exert control and reverse every bit of employee benefit possible. Unless the job market turns around to make the power dynamic vastly in favor of trying to retain and attract employees, we won't see new perks or benefits for the foreseeable future.

Nike is not a growth company for the next year at best. If anything it's still about trying to cut people costs (and any other costs). A new CEO and a new strategy are great, but the economic fundamentals are still the same as before.

Also, our new CEO is not about WFH or remote work in general. Remember, he's the Old Guard, Old School Nike. That's the company culture moving forward. There are other companies out there offering more flexibility and better benefits, it's just a personal choice what matters most to the individual and whether those benefits are motivation to you to jump to another place.

@ajl+1vhQdVG7 Pretty sure amazing and tik tok with RTO 5 feel like tech needs to be onsite. If off site, we may as well save some money and outsource to a lower cost overseas

@tpf+1vhQdVG7 Not possible when there are not enough desks for everyone to come back full time.

looking at amazon and starbucks the past month, if there is a change to RTO, it will be back to 5-day onsite.
