Everybody who was able to do their work comfortably from home for the past year should have a backup ready. The ELT is looking to outsource as many jobs as they can and the past year provided them with a good indicator of which jobs were performed just as well (or in some cases even better) without the need to ever step foot in the office. That means somebody in India or anywhere else can do the same job for much less money than you - and they know it. If you think layoffs were bad before, wait until the new wave of outsourcing starts...

You are not informed. It has been made clear from the start of Charlie’s tenure that we current outsource too much, and more work would be brought back in-house. Sure, jobs are still going to be lost to India, but there is going to be less, not more, outsourcing.
sorry OP, but this makes zero sense. Just because a job was able to be done remotely, does not mean that it can be done offshore. Have you worked with our offshore resources? There's a large skill gap that's not readily solved to be fair and many jobs that require a lot of analytical and problem solving in the gray space (ie not following set procedures) that are not suited well for an offshore environment. Are there some jobs that could be offshored? Sure! But all of them? No.

It doesn't matter what we think or know. Management is going to strive for their "numbers" and nothing else. Arguments on what works or doesn't is futile as it's all about what is best for shareholders.
it has been proven that you can't outsource some positions to India due to lack of knowledge of the business and the us customer. Your post might be true for code monkeys and rote positions but it fails in so many other ways.
@OP+1aYKAQJh. Here is the problem with your logic. Some jobs are better performed at WFH because there is less time wasted in travel to the office. Additionally there isn't Bob stopping at your desk just to chat for 15-20 minutes disrupting workflow. If Bob sends me a Skype message to chat, I can just ignore it and not interrupt what I am working on.
If I'm not spending 2 hours a day getting ready and transiting to and from the office, that is also two additional hours of work I can squeeze in a day and not have my outside life impacted.
How else does WFC benefit? They aren't paying the electricity or real estate space for me to work.
Maybe Charlie should move his ar-e to Charlotte or San Francisco. Not only has he been telecommuting for a year, he isn't even close to a lot of the bank leadership.
@ifq. So you are saying that no one telecommuting can be in leadership? That’s very short sighted, maybe there is a reason they need to telecommute, like a disability. Do you know the company can be sued for discrimination for that little caveat you are suggesting?

Has he looked at the ICS senior leadership??? Many, many senior leaders with their address listed as a WF on the Intranet, when, in reality they are out of state telecommuters.

I had several different recruiters low balling me to take tech jobs at wells fargo! umm, no, i got a job outside of weeks around 60% pay increase. Even the salaries here are low balled! Pathetic , to support the non working execuctive level high salaries to do nothing!
