Do you get unemployment even if you take the severance?

To echo other comments, the OR UE process takes a while so file as soon as you possibly can. They have a huge backlog of issues and claims right now because they switched to a new platform a few weeks ago. I spent over ten hours on hold this last week alone, after several callbacks, just to fix an error that their system created.
FYI. May have changed since I was let go from the Swoosh, but at the end of my unemployment period I was offered the opportunity to enroll in a training program to prepare for my next job. Nike employment was classified as "impacted by trade", hence fell under a program for anyone laid off from such a company. I could chose the program, to lead to an equal or better pay, but it would've needed approval from that OR dept. Thought about it, but decided that I was ready to retire.
Technically unemployment starts from the day the employment termination date effective, Nike supporting 2 months of payroll In addition to severance.
To clarify @tbm+1s8ufWvq:
The Unemployment benefit window is 12 months from the time you file. Within that 12 month window you get 26 separate weeks of pay. So if you miss a week due to vacation, etc its not a "lost" week until the 12 month window expires.
$812/week max. Good for 12 months. It’s a process with lots of hoops.
Round 2 exits are paid through June 28. They will also be eligible for FY24 PSP.
You cannot draw unemployment until after that date as technically June 29 will be your first official unemployment date. What this does afford you to do, is get your ducks in a row, understand the laws, and get the proper paperwork together. My wife went through this twice over the past 5 years. While the process with Oregon frustrates some, its not meant to be easy, but rather purposely makes folks jump through hoops to try to limit it to those that need it, not those that want it. Max payout is like $750/week (may have changed slightly due to inflation), only pays out for 6 months, and you HAVE to call in weekly to tell Oregon what 2-3 things you did in the last week to actively look for work. Could be working with Career coach to rebuild resume, work on linkedin profile, apply for jobs, interview for jobs, etc. AND, there are rules on claiming unemployment if you are on vacation during claimed weeks. Oregon hasn't quite caught up to the 21st century in terms of being able to search for work just as easy near your primary residence from home as from Hawaii.
Good Luck.
While still on the payroll you are still employed. Once that ends you're eligible for unemployment. It does take a couple weeks to set up though.
Not a d-mb question at all, thank you for bringing it up —
Thread titles like this are the reason employees gather here to sift and hopefully find clear, good faith information that is usually and unnecessarily rarefied.
Our tolerance for ambiguity at Nike is conditioned and maladaptive.
In Oregon, yes. You can claim and collect unemployment right away, regardless of your severance. This isn't the case in some other states.
I don’t believe you can file for unemployment until after the 60 days on payroll. Confirm with HR.
Yes. Plan to file for unemployment ASAP because the Oregon unemployment process (and department) is s**t. It can take up to 3 weeks.
You will need to attend an in-person or over the phone interview with worksource oregon or else they will deny your claim.
