Fortune: Verizon considers raising prices on wireless plans to address inflation

https://fortune.com/2022/05/05/verizon-wireless-service-price-increase-inflation/

Hans Vestberg, Verizon’s chief executive officer, raised the prospect of boosting prices on an April call with investors, citing what he said was a 40-year high in inflation.

“We have plans to be prepared for what it takes,” Vestberg said. “So that will, of course, include different type of cost adjustments, but also looking into what you can do with pricing.”

A Verizon representative declined to comment.

While AT&T broke from past practices and raised prices for the first time in three years, T-Mobile has been holding firm and offering a range of price plans to attract customers from rivals. The company recently introduced new prepaid plans starting at $20 a month.

“Of course AT&T did what it did,” T-Mobile Chief Executive Officer Mike Sievert said during a presentation Wednesday. “This gives us the opportunity to stand up for the customer.”

This will work swimmingly given how many customers we lost last quarter without raising them.

All retiree benefits are worthless since they dont want people to stay.

@gfq+1gE1q3Ap, voice text and data for two phones to many services? That I didn’t use? I don’t think so. That $133 is with the retiree discount. I was also in New York. I had unlimited data with VZW. I guess it depends on what kind of smart phones you have. You are paying $107.00 more than I was. My point is that I got a better deal elsewhere without the retiree discount.

The retiree 'benefit' is worthless. T-Mobile offers more for less.

Seriously ??...Sounds like you were signed up for a lot of services you didn't use/need.

I'm in NY and I pay $240 a month for 4 smart phones with unlimited data and two flip phones for the grandparents (and that includes $30 a month for a recent phone purchase)

I am a retiree. I was paying $133. To VZW for two phones, one older than 4 years the other older than that, 400 shared minutes, text and data. Service where I moved to was terrible, I switched to AT&T. Two new google pixel 6 pro phones, unlimited calling, unlimited data and text. $105. A month service is better. While I do believe in seome areas Verizon may provide better service, I think they should reconsider their pricing.
