Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Corporate Layoffs?

Has anyone heard anything on corporate layoffs? There were a few people let go this week- are more coming?

@z3 looks like we are on the right track boys, another sr director trying to show off how hard and long hours he works to "look busy" and keep his job. And then blames his team for "leaving early". Prime candidate for the chopping block.

I am a Sr. Director in Aero and work no more than 4 hrs a day. I arrive late with my phone to my ear like I'm on a call. It's ESPN. I then make my lunch plans and go to the the gym for a few hours. I usually stay after most leave to work on my retirement accounts. Fake it until you make it.

@j6 I worked in corporate and in the business and don't know anyone who is a director or senior director that is worthless or doesn't do the heavy lifting. I have 20+ reports under me all pulling their weight and I am a senior director in a business. Different story in corporate where the bloat is too much but with the exception of a couple VPs everyone I know pulls in 14 hour days and travels for work 75% of the time. Don't compare that to low level band 4 leaders (which is where the trimming is needed) who work 8-5 and have the time to use the corporate gym or take off early to beat the traffic.

@j6 I disagree. There are many completely worthless VPs

Anyone who is surprised by this has been living under a rock. When AERO and other spinoffs Honeywell announced are completed (PSS and Intelligrated in IA, parts of ESS, etc) Honeywell will be 40%-50% smaller from a revenue standpoint. As a holding company it will not need the same corporate overhead as it has today. This is all publicly available information and the changes in staffing - if true - are not a surprise.

Shocked to hear the most transformative leader, who has been an extremely good mentor for me and many other functions since SPS days, was cut among other corp leaders who have significant challenges to interpret data and prioritize. He left his mark of ABs with us but it is a very disappointing to see real people go. He was brought in by JW (opposedly much much nicer version) and that might be the only freaking reason.

There should not be any Senior Directors. VP should be used for a few core functions only, Finance, Engineering, Sales & Legal. The rest should start as Directors as they are not core.

@jn inflation is fixed?! Did you miss the CPI report today that said that inflation and unemployment has gone up?

@jn Inflation fixed? Data today shows a different picture of the economy and inflation. I choose to believe facts and science and not random tweets from orange people. I drive past gas stations all day long and not a single one is under 3.70 a gallon. Where is less than 2 bucks?

realistically now that inflation is fixed and gas prices are below 2 bucks, Honeywell can probably trim 40 to 60% of FTE's and not impact any operations. Too fat

So many layers that need to go, VP->sr director -> director -> manager -> specialist. Who is doing the work? Realistically its the VP and the specialist. The people in-between are paper pushers, spreadsheet fill outs, ppt slide makers. All using info from the specialist. Cull the middle, starting with sr. Directors.

Anyone can recommend a good employment lawyer for HQ Charlotte for HR misconducts, RIF and severance pay?

I heard they were hiring more Directors and Sr. Directors. I like more people telling me I need to work harder.

@b9 if you consider 1week salary per year as a golden parachute; most likely you leave in Sierra Leone:)

All senior director positions will be eliminated from Corp to flatten the organization. VPs will have directors and managers under them. CX will go under Matketing, Sales/Channel/CODA will have only one VP and Pricing will move under BAP finance

What divisions do you think will be impacted the most in corp?

India seems to be protected from layoffs from what I have seen. Our leadership keeps going there throughout the year to check on the team to make sure they are most pleased and see what other business processes can be offshored from more expensive countries where labour cost is higher.
