Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Verizon pay

Rough estimate what we use to make if you use to hustle at Verizon

8-6 years ago = +$100,000-$80,000

4-6 years ago = $60,000-$50,000

2-3 years ago =$40,000-$35,000

Now = 💩

I thought the longer you’re with a company,
Your money is supposed to go UP not down.

Wonder why this company is going to complete $HIT. The big wigs that don’t do anything keep getting a pay increase while we get screwed more and more every year .

Quit crying ahole. No one goes into stores anymore. Sales is a feast or famine job and the famine has been going on for a few years at least. Maybe it's time to find something new if it doesn't pay the bills anymore. Besides the upper echelons only care about their own survival. I hope you see the light soon and realize there's better opportunities out there even though it might take some work on your end.

I cant stand Verizon but because I was able to achieve a 65% + return rate on 401k with roughly 4800 a quarter in dividends.

I tolerate this company.

I worked there for 20 + years a person used to make a lot there good luck now.

This sounds cold and heartless but if you have been in retail for 8-10 years then that is poor planning for career development. The writing and consumer behavior is sitting there in front of you. Look at your own shopping behaviors. I certainly hope someone that has been in retail that long develop some skills. There a lot of opportunities internal and external. Be selfish and do it for yourself.

That makes sense. I have a few friends that left retail and went to telesales. They’ve hit windfall a few times and are bringing in like 60-90k+

I’m just waiting for a position to open so I can gtfo of retail. Conditions are so $hitty inside the stores these days. Nothing but old folks that complain non stop.

Because retail is dead.

Gen z and millenniums love to shop online everything is done digital now . Back in the early 2000s people still went in store to buy phones now they only go there for phone issues. Just look at all the malls in the country empty. Retail is dying and that’s why you are making less every year .

Mostly true. I was a manager at a store from 2004 to 2008 and made about $120k a year and had two reps that would go to presidents cabinet pretty consistently. I work in corporate now and make about the same in salary. Just milking this gravy train almost to retirement at 50.

Gut employee wages to find the bottom they'll take to do the retail job. Spend money making our advertised 5g close to competitors, raise stock price so people see verizons image as good. Make it miserable to do the job to minimize damage when tenured reps leave. It's by design, oh how the mighty have fallen.
