Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I have a new “Send it Up” suggestion

To show leadership, boost morale of the frontline employees and good PR with our Customers.

Managers 3rd level to CEO should job shadow frontline employees for a few days on all essential installs under current rules. It’s very safe and I’ll share the few drops of hand sanitizer I have left. Sorry, no gloves, mask or disinfectant wipes but it’s ok you’ll be fine. Mask don’t act as a barrier, gloves are just useless and wipes are overrated. Managers, don’t forget the company has the customers and your safety as their #1 priority. They’ve sent out emails at least twice a day stating it so, it must be True!

You can BS the customer while I’m completing the install, all the while practicing social distancing in this confined room, closet or building. Don’t worry it’s Safe! I’ve already told you multiple times so, it must be True! When we finish you can wash your hands with my soap, oh forgot no soap. It’s ok we care, you are our hero! Here is a drop of sanitizer.

Wonder how long before majority of installs become non essential?

No job is so important that you cannot take the time off to avoid the invisible firestorm of a deadly contagion sweeping across the globe.

You are quite the dreamer. Those guys don’t know what a screwdriver is ! Once many of us splicers were on a major cable damage where 40-50 business were down. We worked our butts off for 48 hours straight. Up drives the 3rd level and says “ I got something for you guys “. He points to the back of his squeaky clean truck and points to a 6 pack of Coke. I had to walk away while he boasted about the company. We were hungry and thirsty and all he had was a political speech and a warm 6 pack of Coca Cola! Just lost in space these guys!

You and your fellow techs should start reporting these tickets through email. To your manager then the union. That is non essential work period. Maybe one of the first questions to your customer on a dispatch should be, Do you currently have existing service?

Don't forget they are triaging and trying to keep you Safe as possible. Gotta keep the revenue stream going, didn’t you know? There are always causalities in a war! You are a hero, asset and you matter. Remember that when you become sick or god forbid, worse.

Just had a full bp install for a customer who has EXISTING Comcast internet. Look, I want to win back customers as much as anybody but are you fng kidding me! That order should have been held until a later date. I’m willing to bet there’s somebody in this great clown show , working from home of course, actually pushing these orders up the list just to get them back.

Frontline installers are the tip of the spear right now. They should be pointed elsewhere until this passes or a vaccine is viable.

Over the years, T has seemed perfectly content to pass on providing HSIA to millions of homes. Why the big concern to serve a few homes now? Can't they just wait until this bug blows over?

Thanks for your concern but we’ve already sent emails to our managers and company knows things are back ordered. If Jeff is unaware then it’s imperative to have a conference call and find out what is going on. Bottom line, frontline are unnecessarily being put at risk for non essential work.

My manager handed out some 1oz hand sanitizers the other day. Said it was all he could find after going to several local stores. What a joke! I say fine, we are in crisis and everyone is after the same stuff. Just wondering why the company would put the frontline employees at risk in this pandemic

Some of these items will mitigate some of the risk but infection is almost assured. We roll of the dice every time we enter into the unknown. It puts our families and communities in serious danger for internet and tv.

Stop non essential installs!!!

The company knows... But you have nothing to CYA. Send Jeff a note to see what he says. You get sick, you use his response and take the necessary action. Like I said earlier, and I am sympathetic to your cause, only have read about not having this or that, but nothing about I sent xxx and email and they said....

This could prove to be very important if you get sick and this causes some long term health problems that we don't know about yet. You will have your case documented.

What you are saying is, don’t believe my lying eyes. Safety is # 1. Remember mask don’t work so give them to a medical professional. Anyone see the double standard ? If barriers don’t work maybe we should remove the windows from our vehicles. OP you are right on with post

The company knows we don’t have supplies, it’s no secret. Everything is back ordered and stores are out of these necessities too. Thus the video to CYA. They could maybe help a tech or two for PR but the mass. Meh

Jeff did some sort of a staged interview from a store a week or so ago. He clearly said if you do not have the sanitary supplies necessary to contact him directly. I have read numerous complaints on this board about the lack of supplies but not one statement saying they contacted Jeff and posted his response. Take him up on the offer, you and others need to let him know ASAP.

Get a clue all you arm chair warriors, you are only one package, sneeze or cough away from your own crisis. Ask Prince Charles, Tom Hanks, multiple congressmen etc.. so quit acting like this is nothing. The experts are predicting anywhere from 100,000 to 2.2 million deaths in USA if we don’t practice isolation for weeks.

Doing installs is a very bad policy for profit/revenue. People will survive for a few weeks without their internet or tv. Most have access through their cell phones. Ever hear of Typhoid Mary? Look it up.

Chattel! Back to work, you are my hero! Don’t forget to use the alternate dispatch to make sure we make this sale even though the customer just told you they might or do have COVID-19. Your safety is # 1 and we will pay you while you are sick or dying.

Lol! Wake up from your dream.

This will never happen but if he$$ froze over don’t you think that the bulk list would be handpicked and customers screened? Probably by a 1st level. Just like when someone in a higher position comes out for their little dog & pony show once a year.
