Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

They're reading your Slack messages!

I would hope in good conscience no one is actually talking trash on slack. Word on the street is a couple of people were told to leave because of their Slack history....

This is a great reminder. Don’t celebrate yesterday’s firing on company resources, or a personal phone that has the company keylogger installed.

You also may think you're being smart by using those apps like Wickr that send messages but immediately delete them once they've been read.

Ha ha ha ha!

Not the case. Your typing is monitored and logged, your screens are being captured. When you read a message, so can Nike.

The fact that the message self-destructs is immaterial, the damage has already been done (your activity has already been logged).

They thoughts the slack channel was private.... turns out it wasn't locked and everyone was able to read through their messages (including the people they were talking about)

When every single person in CIS has 2 phones, you should probably have 2 phones

For those of you that have a single phone that you are using for work/personal stop it right now. You should never manage/enroll a personal non Nike owned device. They have access to everything and will use it to sc--w you. @rmv+1kLr2ixW is absolutely right.

If you work in tech and don't understand that all companies monitor electronic communications, you're in the wrong field.

Yup I had that access as well and was responsible for reviewing thousands emails from a Finance senior vps and their indiscretions but nothing ever happened to big ones only the juniors get made examples of, we probably know each other the circle is small.

What @rmv said. If you’re using a company computer or other company resource like a phone, or if you have any Nike corporate apps on your private phone, you need to understand that Nike can see literally everything you’re doing on those devices. Not only can Nike capture live action, it can also capture screenshots, your keystrokes are logged, your browser search history is logged, and your use time is logged.

In 2018, the last year I had access to this info, Nike fired almost 100 employees due to info received from Nike’s spyware. The biggest reason was po-n. Second biggest reason was “inappropriate Internet use not involving po-n”. Third reason was employees doing basically nothing, confirmed after their managers asked HR to send a report on that person’s computer use activity. Over a dozen people had turned on their computers every morning and done almost nothing all day, sometimes for weeks at a time. They had no clue they were being watched.

I’m amazed we still have employees who don’t know that Nike is monitoring their Nike electronic devices ALL the time. It’s not even a secret. Hit ctrl+alt+ delete, look at your task manager, and you’ll see the name of the program tracking you.

Why do people think they aren’t? You’re using a professional communication tool on a company computer. Get a personal cell phone and a signal account if you’re that desperate to talk sh-t.
