Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

What is coming in June ?

Darkness ? Something is up but what exactly is it ? More sister stores ? Converting stores to reseller ? Headcount reduction ? Permanent hours reduction ? Permanent store closings ? Reduction in SM’s and GM’s ? Sunsetting team commisions ? VSP’s ?
Oh something is coming i can feel it in the air tonight... oh lord....oh lord

Amazing the loyalty leadership has that zero has been leaked out as to what changes are being announced in June. It’s all been speculation on here. Nobody has stated XYZ will be announced and what is to come. Why ? That many people can’t possibly keep a secret.

The point is, they won’t need to fire people or lay them off with severance, if the atmosphere becomes such that people leave on their own. I for one, thought severance would have come first, as it has in the past with other layoffs. But I guess the people who go down with the ship have the roughest ride. Wasn’t anticipating that. If I would have known, I would probably have exploring other options sooner. But we live and learn, right?

On a side note, I am thankful for my time with Verizon. I am not ignorant of the fact that Verizon has been good to me over the past decade. And as a very modest person, I can truly say I have been a very good employee. But the position in the stores has evolved and compensation no longer matches what we originally signed up for. So my commitment never staggered, but compensation has decreased, so it’s time for me to realize I’ve outgrown it, and realize I’m worth more.

I agree with @rmn+1b6bmwjZ if nothing happens then I’m really going to start moving myself out of that environment. It’s not worth the money to wait for severance when I could be making more somewhere else and make up that amount of money I would get from Verizon. I don’t want to stay where I’m not wanted and Verizon. Plus I think they are going to work on getting people fired over giving them severance

Unclear by design. But I’m ready for whatever it is. After a good year of living in suspense, I decided to take things into my own hands. Severance or not, I’m ready to make a move. Instead of worrying IF I’m going to be laid off, my new question has become will a layoff or job offer come first? Whatever it is, I’m ready. Not sitting in the passenger seat anymore waiting for the carrot of severance.
