Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

NIKEMAGEDDON IS COMING

Are you kidding me? This is exactly what they want you to believe - that everything is fine. The layoffs, the rumors, the chaos - it's all apart of you-know-whos plan to control and manipulate us. Now they'll take back WFH! WTF! I've been connecting dots and it's not a pretty pretty picture.

The ELT and HR are working to crush dissent and us in line!

Which org is up on the chopping block?

Yeah. Why are we crying “strike!”?

The real nail biter word for management is “Unionize!”

@5cjs, I can’t tell if your post was parody or if you might actually mean it.

If the latter, your entitlement and privilege is just oozing through. You work at a company that provides good pay, great benefits, and a bunch of unique perks. Including an extra week off in the prime of summer for “mental health”! Yet you think you’re being “crushed” by a horribly oppressive employer? Good grief. For your sake I hope you never have to work at a more mainstream company that makes Nike look like employment nirvana in comparison.

And a strike?? We make high-priced t-shirts and tennis shoes. It’s not like going on strike is going to mean hundreds of thousands of people will suffer. You aren’t exactly the garbage man or a nurse who provides services society actually NEEDS. The general public would probably laugh hysterically if any of us at Nike went on strike. The ultimate exercise of privileged people not understanding how privileged they are.

I’ll just assume your post was parody. If it wasn’t then please seek therapy. Or better yet make a sign and go stand out on Murray Blvd. I’m sure that will end well for you.

Can you believe this insanity? The economy is collapsing, people losing their jobs, and everything is falling apart!! I refuse to let them win. I refuse to be crushed under their airmax heels.

Going on strike might be the only way to make our voices heard. We can't let them walk all over us. It's time to show them we mean business. Who is with me???!

You sound incredibly unhappy working at Nike. If you dislike it that much, why don’t you LEAVE and find employment elsewhere! I wish you the best of luck trying to find a company that isn’t currently going through a re-Org and has 100% everything you are looking for at a workplace. I do hope you find your happiness elsewhere.

@rjv: whatever advice she’s giving to the Allbirds board it doesn’t seem to be working. That company’s stock is currently trading at about $1.25. To put that into perspective it used to trade as high as $30.

To the OP: Relax. The world at Nike is not ending. If anything Nike is chugging along fine while a lot of its competitors and peers are struggling. Being the big kid on the block has some big advantages and Nike tends to leverage its market position well. Nike has its issues and we all know what those are but overall the company could be in MUCH worse shape than it is.

Keep your head down, do your work, and don’t stress over things for which you have no control. It’s just a job, not your identity and life, and your cortisol levels will thank you.

Few companies deserve to crash and burn more than Nike.

can't wait to see the advice she gives the board...

"so what you do is give your child access to exclusive product, get a warehouse lease and all the leaders in the company in on it...then PROFIT!"
