Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Tech Business Systems/Services Associates layoffs?

Anyone heard about layoffs for these two titles? Trying hard to get through here because I don’t have the luxury of looking for a job now. Please be kind! I am just a concerned employee wanting to know more.

Job role was recently reclassified out of TBSA to a title that is much less endangered. I'm wondering if other groups will do this to try and avoid layoffs.

SVB has said repeatedly that there will be layoffs and also that the percent of engineers to total tech staff will go up. It's pretty clear that TBSAs are going to be on the cutting block. Even if you don't like him, you can't be surprised when the cuts to non-engineers happen.

I have/had the TBSA title and recently resigned for another opportunity. The handwriting is clearly on the wall for those types of jobs.

I do think that some TBSA’s will convert to product owners but there are only so many of those positions needed. Mostly in Agile, they need developers and scrum masters with some BA’s - with that said, I’m not sure how many managers they will need to keep either. Most of the managers I knew didn’t know squat about Agile or even technology in general.

I feel sorry for the operations associates because it’s like they have no clue - the managers are telling them to make sure their training is up, etc.

Do not ask your manager what your role will be. Tell them what it will be. Nut up, lets go!

I am also in this role and I am at the point where I am going to ask my manager,in our next one on one,if I have a future in my current role. I’m tired of being strung along and being told well we may have a position for you or we don’t quite know what your position will be.

you need to drive your future and dont let some bank that cant determine headcount to begin with to do this for you. Any company having layoffs every year has management issues who can not properly forecast what skills they will need and how many.

aka. inexperienced management is the issue

HR needs to create a manager class and give information on this plus the difference between contractors and employees. Which situation to use one over the other. Or better yet, hire management with experience.

I have this job title and I’m wondering if I will be on the list. It seems like every day another piece of my work is taken away in preparation to move to agile. I looked internally on the job board to see if there was another rule I could move into and ther was maybe two openings the technical business associate analyst role.

@uep+1aNlmhrZ

Wrong. My group has seen many layoffs over the years, not just recently, and I never know more than a day prior to the impacted employees. Your LOB may be different.

I was wondering about that. I thought my post was fairly innocuous.

@rep. The reaction to a layoff is a lot different at 25 just starting out than it is at 55 with kids in college perhaps and trying to prepare for retirement in a decade or so.

@dft. Apologies, that was not directed at you but rather some idiocy which was thankfully removed by the editors.

I have never considered a layoff a blessing. It's horrible and I usually step from the frying pan into the fire because it wasn't my choice to leave in the first place.
It's not rosy at all.

The only thing that should be replaced is your shtick with something intelligent. Almost anyone else would do.

You're correct in that. I asked nicely and was put on the list for July. I asked why I had to wait so long and his reply was that it's just logistics with the volume they're going to be doing. I have a firm date so I need to see if it's true or not but I suspect/hope that it is.

If you get laid off, consider it a blessing! You'll get 60 days notice likely and then severance. God, it's gotta be about as good as winning the Powerball to GTFO. Every place is hiring, you can get a part time job super easy to bridge gap until you find another gig, and enjoy life a little! This place does not care one bit about anyone!

Yep, to poster below that they selected you. Their managers tell them they need a headcount and you're selected.

Managers know for sure; they dont want to be the bad guy, but instead look like they are a victim just like you will be one. Dont fall for the phony story!

They 100% know and they selected you to go, not the manager 3 levels up.

My manger has told me in confidentially that two Tech Ops Analysts/Associates are being let go by the end of next week from my group. A ramp up from previously expected end of June.

Managers know. I believe they know months ahead. They have to pretend to not know so there isn't a panic, but they're well aware and not at the last minute, either.

Most times even the managers don’t know until their two up manager gives them a list...which sometimes includes them.

You won't know until your day is up. Managers pretend to know nothing and keep everything going on a bau basis until your number is up.

No. You are on a NTK status like everyone else here. Need To Know. And they don't think you or we need to know anything. The more they can keep you in the dark, the more they can have control over you. Its what toxic leadership looks like.

If I were in tech, I would be concerned whatever my title since they seem to be going all in on offshoring. That’s why I left tech.

I believe someone posted a while back that there were supposed to be cuts in BSCs because they weren’t considered useful in agile, which is preposterous. Maybe someone currently in tech has more of a lowdown.
