Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

So many sr. mgrs/directors are remote

With so much mgt working remotely -- especially those not in hub location and many in key roles -- is WF really going to lay off ALL of them?

We're all wondering about this. Consistent application of arbitrary RTO policy seems insane, but necessary to avoid litigation.

Let's not forget the purpose of RTO...to motivate people to voluntarily quit. With that in mind, absurdity is a beneficial feature in the eyes of Hudson Yards.

It’s about the inconsistency of WF applying this requirement to all and the sheer hypocrisy of these Managers and Directors (except for the very few who may have an approved medical accommodation).

Nah. Fyi, many individual contributors make as much if not more than managers.

It’s about remote Sr Managers and Directors being a hypocrite and not waking the talk. It’s about WF not applying the requirement consistently. Yes, there are always a few exceptions (i.e. medical accommodation) but there’s no way 12%+ of these remote Managers and Directors all have medical accommodation.

My manager has all his team meetings in the morning so he can be shown on camera in the office. After the meeting he goes back home.

Yes! I was just looking at this today. So many senior managers and directors are remote and not near hubs with over half of their teams being remote or in a location that could potentially shut down. Are they going to cancel out full teams?

Everyone's days are numbered. Being in a building just makes you more expensive and therefore a better target for cost cutting.

welcome to the real world. lots of rules that don't apply to sr managers/exec. Look at all the org changes. As a middle level manager I'm told not to poach and have to go through all kinds of hoops to hire or try to laterally move someone, but senior leaders can rearrange the deck chairs all they want and take their cronies with them regardless of what it does to the team their leaving.

there will always be someone who gets something you don't. welcome to the real world. if you don't like it you know where to find the door. Next thing you'll start complaining that CS makes more money than you even though you work harder.

They'll probably stay put. There are business critical exceptions

The rules don’t apply if you’re high up enough or favored by management. There are plenty of remote exceptions happening.

100% true. Absolutely true. There is no formal policy in place. Every evening, drunkards make decisions and then rely on their sycophants or 'yes-men' to execute them in the morning. However, this hub location issue doesn't arise in India, as the time when these decisions are made coincides with daytime in India. :)
