I bet everyone fine with RTO lives within 20 minutes of an office

Or hates their family

Employees also have the right to form a Union. Forming union is much easier when everyone is in the same office. The database developers know what I am talking about.

Forming a union is only one form of Industrial Action.

I haven’t even been here for a year and I’m already getting moved to a different team same department. I don’t know what’s going on. Also the seating charts are laughable for Berkeley. My assigned seat is nowhere near my team. Is this a joke?

It's pretty simple...A company is paying tge employee a sum of money to perform agreed upon job functions/services. The company has the right to require where these functions/services are processed. The employee has the right to object and seek other means of employment which fulfills their wants.

Getting emotional over something out of your control leads you nowhere. Learn to adjust or make a change.

My primary objection to the heavy push to RTO is that for the last 15+ years, I have "worked with" exactly ZERO people while in the office. Oh sure, it's nice to smile/nod at people in the hallways. But ALL of my work has been on Webex/Teams calls. ALL of my team mates are in different offices, all across the globe! ALL of my project teams that I interfaced with are the same. NONE in my local office at all!

Now, if you want to ensure that I will have at least some small percentage of co-workers IN THE SAME office, that's fine. I sincerely appreciate the value of brainstorming and whiteboarding, etc. But I haven't experienced that at all lately. It's been all virtual. And I can do that just as well (if not better) from my home office.

So much wasted time (commuting) and wasted money (gas and expensive lunches). And for what? The only reason left is CONTROL and LACK OF TRUST. No thanks.

I'm sixteen miles from the Foserv office. Thr commute still stinks. I can get so much more done working remotely.

people who support RTO are paid shills from the PR team and/or the india "like" farms. Nobody who actually does any work enjoys being in the office. Fiserv treats adults with disdain and disrespect instead of industry professionals they paid good money to hire and train. Should come as absolutely zero surprise they are one of the least desirable places to work and every single engineer bugs out as soon as possible.

I understand if they hate their family or at-home situation, and want to hide away at "work" to avoid time there. But the audacity to pretend they are working long hours and are good workers is a bit too shameless

I’m about 15 minutes away and it sucks. I don’t collaborate with anyone at my location only people at other offices

Imho, it could be more palatable if fiserv only expected/demanded a normal 40 to 45 hour work week. Heck, i could go with an occasional 50 hour a week. But not the daily excess hours and a commute.

I don't know why everyone is complaining. Our NJ location is only a five minute walk from my house. Three minutes if I go by helicopter.

OP I’ve been thinking the same. I dread going to the office with a 45mins to an 1 hour commute. Even going to the office 3 times a week feels like torture. The move to Berkley will make the drive even longer.I am not looking forward to it at all!
