They'll probably make more unethical secretaries with no education into unethical project managers (still secretaries) but give them 120k+ to use powerpoint and do nothing mostly. Seems to be a popular thing in the most northern of north american hubs.
On Reddit these office workers discuss their value! Actual office quotes:
"... had an office job where I worked 5 mins if that and just looked busy the rest of the time, listened to podcasts all daywork from home. I am currently playing the Sims"
"It's mentally exhausting sitting and doing nothing for hours. You can only refresh your emails so many times.
" I spend a lot of my day at my desk doing nothing productive"
"Office worker here: I spend probably 2 hours a day with focused work. The rest is me trying to hide"
" We're all definitely just fu--ing off."
"It astounds me how little we do in the office after having a very demanding job for so long. I would literally nap for hours of the day because I had nothing to do."
"...tech company and most of the times i only have hour and an half job"
"Spent most of the day messing around on my phone."
"avg office worker works like 3 hours a day max. having to look busy"
"literally do not do sh-t most days"
"contract role at a large company and literally did nothing, would actually ask for work, and they would get mad if I did
anything on the computer so my days were composed of sitting at my desk or walking around the office"
"Most of corporate work is just passing along information or pretending to be busy"
"When I worked in the office I would just read books on my computer. Then I figured out I could boot football manager from a USB stick and that took up a lot of my time from then on."
"spent 3 days just making family photo albums online."
And importantly - "...bogus PMs posting about how important their job is - if they all vanished tomorrow projects would move faster."
Sounds like the transitions to AI are smart moves tbh.
